From the Desk of Principal Harris
Langston Hughes Family,
I hope that you are well. On Wednesday, February 1, 2023, we celebrated the beginning of Black History Month and the birthday of our school's namesake, James Mercer Langston Hughes. It is such an honor to serve a community full of promise. We have the responsibility of sharing the greatness that is Langston Hughes High School. I encourage you to help us change the narrative of our school throughout the month of February. We are doing great things and need your help to make it known.
Counselor Appreciation Week
Next week, 02/06/2023-02/10/2023 is Counselor Appreciation Week. They help to set the foundation for our scholars to succeed here and beyond. If you haven’t thanked your scholar’s counselor, please reach out and send them a brief note. That would mean so much to them!.
Rising Junior/Senior Night
On Wednesday, February 8, 2023, we will be hosting a Rising Junior/Senior Night via teams. Please see the flyer listed further below for more information.
Valentine's Day Reminder
As we approach Valentine’s Day, it is important to ensure all homemade candy, desserts, baked goods, or other edible items are not to be sold or distributed during school hours, and that appropriate store-bought items are delivered to the administration. Please know that taking this measure will help us maintain a safe environment for all students with allergies, etc. You can help us protect your student(s) by requesting that they not eat anything given to them by another person, anything that they have not brought from your home or anything not in its original sealed package.
LHHS Drama Department Presents: Nobody Told Jamaal
Please come out and support our LHHS Drama Department on February 16 and February 17. The play will begin at 6:30PM. We have attached their flyer below.
Thank you for your continued partnership in keeping all our students safe at school.
