More Curriculum information...

some of you have asked...

We wanted to give out more information about how excited we are to have a quality Reading and Language Arts curriculum, and thought this video was a good introduction. Because the content is so rigorous, your child may experience lower grades than what you are used to. However, that does not mean we are not aware, or "letting them slip". We are working diligently to align our grading with the performance of our students but also with state standards and assessments.

In addition to K-5 using CKLA curriculum we are all also using NWEA district assessments. We administered these the last week of September and will do so twice more to show progress. Our goal is to align the assessment data with both our intervention and instruction, which should result in student progress and ultimately an overall improvement in performance. Individual results will be discussed at Parent / Teacher Conferences, November 1.

Safety comes first

As a preventative to allowing panic to take over, we have practice drills very regularly. We practice in the event of a fire, bad weather such as a tornado, and we even prepare students in the event of a lock down. We don't do this to scare students but rather get them familiar with the process so that we can smoothly and safely protect your students in the event of an emergency. Moving forward, if we should have to enforce one of these procedures, and it is not a drill, the school will send out a notification through the alert system.

Please be sure and sign up for this system so you will be alerted of any such emergency, bad weather, delay in school starting or closure. Please text "yes" to 67587 to opt into School Messenger.

Curriculum Night

Thursday, Nov. 10th, 5:30pm

Elementary Cafeteria

We will kick off the Evening with a Title I Meeting. This meeting will give parents input as to how we may spend these funds as a campus. Then we will highlight a CKLA Unit and discuss what the students have learned by interviewing students from each grade level to share their excitement for this new curriculum. This will be an opportunity for you to learn more about what we are teaching and hear directly from the teachers why the level of rigor is so important. We will also review some of the NWEA reports you may see at Parent / Teacher Conferences.

RSVPs are enabled for this event.
