Marcello Silva
Marcello came to Launch Academy in October of his 11th grade year. In addition to taking AP courses, Marcello is also a competitive runner. He has run three marathons with a personal record of 2 hours and 40 minutes, and is currently training for the Chicago Marathon this year. His dream is to represent Mexico in the Olympics and is happy to help anyone who wants to start their running journey!
Hello Launch Academy Students (& Parents),
We hope you had a restful Spring Break and now are ready to jump on our Q4 journey of interactive learning. You will be assigned three new classes - Your goal is to complete your assigned classes by the week of May29th. A week earlier if you are a Senior.
Our fourth quarter (Q4) of the school year has 9 weeks. Practically, you will have 8 weeks to complete your assigned classes. You can do it! And we are here to support you.
First day of school for Q4 is Tuesday, April 4th. However, on Monday, April 3rd, you will receive emails from your teachers and academic coach. Please check your email and log into CANVAS daily starting Monday.
On Monday, April 3rd, students and parents will be able to access student's Q4 Class Schedule in Infinite Campus Portal. In addition, we will email each student and parent Q4 class schedules on Monday. PLEASE join your assigned classes according the class period (P1-8) on the designated day and time. All meetings links will become available starting Monday in each of your CANVAS classes. If there are any issues with your class schedule, contact immediately you counselor by email, phone or by scheduling an online meeting. Click HERE for our counseling team contact information.
At Launch Virtual Academy, each student has the flexibility and freedom to be in control of their learning experience. However, this new power comes with new responsibilities. We, wholeheartedly believe that you can be successful in an online environment. You have us on your team!

On Saturday, April 1st, Launch Academy students visited UCSD Skaggs School of Pharmacy to learn more about their campus and to get an in depth look at the field of Pharmacy at one of the most prestigious schools in the nation!

Congressional Art Competition
I am excited to announce that the annual Congressional Art Competition has begun, and the office of Congressman Juan Vargas is accepting submissions! Each year, the Congressional Institute sponsors a nationwide high school visual art competition to recognize the talent of artists on a national scale and in each congressional district
This year's theme is Through My Pandemic Eyes โ Depicting the experiences of the pandemic through two-dimensional art. Your artwork should reflect any emotion or happening (positive or negative) experienced as a result of the COVID-19 Pandemic.
The top three winners are recognized in their district, and the first-place winner at an annual awards ceremony in Washington, DC. The winning art piece is displayed for one year at the U.S. Capitol, and the winner is provided with a flight to D.C. to participate in the annual art reception on the Hill.
The deadline to submit entries is Friday, April 28th, 2023, at 5:00 PM. All submissions should be delivered to the district office at 333 F Street, Suite A Chula Vista, CA 91910

Steam Fair 2023
Exciting activities at the 2023 STEAM FAIR on April 13th. Over 25 organizations are geared up to provide engaging activities-- everything from Aerospace to Biotech.
Register at eefkids.org and be eligible to win prizes, but no registration is required to attend. Eastlake High School are our hosts, located at 1120 Eastlake Parkway, CV, CA 91915. The Southwestern College Peer Ambassadors are now at Launch Academy!
They are available to meet in person and virtually on Thursdays from 12:30-2:45PM.

Earth Month
The city of Chula Vista will be hosting multiple events in the month of April!
At the Civic Center Branch, 365 F Street, S.T.E.A.M. (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Math) will focus on Earth Month activities. April 6 is Acid Rain, April 13 is Origami Planters, April 20 is Litter Grabber Challenge, and April 27 is Wind Catchers; all events begin at 6 p.m. This program is designed for children ages 8-12 and materials are provided on a first-come, first-served basis.
