Monk Fryston Weekly News 12.11.21

The school target for next week is;

'Remember to be kind and play nicely'.

Late Arrivals

We have noted that a number of children are coming into school late. Learning tasks start immediately in the mornings and it is important that all children come in at the right time so that they can maximise their education. Please ensure that your child arrives at school at 8:50 every day.

Please switch off your engine

Our children have been inspired by COP26 and have thought of lots of ways we can be more environmentally friendly. They have noticed that some parents are waiting in their car with the engine idling, and this is increasing pollution. They would like to request that you please try to switch off your engine if you are stationary. Thank you.

Learning Reviews - missed appointment?

Thank you for attending the virtual Learning Reviews. If you were unable to make the appointment for any reason, it is extremely important that you arrange to meet with your child’s teacher. Please email the office to organise another appointment.

The next Learning Review meetings will take place during a school closure day on Wednesday 9th March 2022.

Sportshall Athletics Team

North Yorkshire are holding trials for a Year 5/6 sportshall athletics team, which will take place in Harrogate on Saturday 27 November, or York on Sunday 12 December. Further details for anyone interested can be obtained from the office.

Children In Need 19.11.21

Children In Need is back for 2021 and, here at Monk Fryston, we will be getting involved as usual. This year, we are hosting a ‘Fancy Dress Friday’ and ask children to pay a minimum donation of £1 to take part. Please make your donation via this link

Whether it’s a favourite book character, actor, musician, dancer or even just wearing some cute Pudsey ears… anything goes! We will be spreading the message that together, we can have fun and change lives in every corner of the UK. Please help us to support this wonderful cause and have fun at the same time.

Outdoor Christmas Fayre/Market 4.12.21

We are excited to be able to hold an outdoor Christmas Fayre/Market on Saturday 4th December 12pm to 2pm. We are now taking donations of any preloved uniform and Christmas jumpers. Any donations of bottles and toys in good condition for the tombolas as well as any donations for the raffle. We will put a box in the school entrance for you to leave any donations in. Many thanks in advance.

Christmas Dinner - 15.12.21

Our cook is making a special Christmas dinner on Weds 15th December, details were emailed to yourselves on 10th November. Please click the link below to advise your child's lunch choice for that day (even if they are having a packed lunch from home).

Thank you to everyone who has already done this. Deadline for orders is Weds 17th November. Thank you!

PTA Questionnaire - please complete by Fri 19th November.

We are very fortunate that our PTA runs regular fundraising events throughout the year. Everything our PTA raises goes directly to providing for the school, and, in consultation with staff, parents have a say on where and how the money is spent.

We can only continue to run with the support of our amazing volunteers. We would like to know more about our school community as two new year groups have joined Monk Fryston School since the pandemic. Please take a few minutes to let us know which events and activities appeal to you and where you might be able to help us. Click the link below to access the form;

National Sleep Helpline - Free Service.

One in four children in the UK are not getting enough sleep, this has an impact on their behaviour and ability to learn, as well as their physical health.

Our free helpline is run by trained sleep advisors who can talk to young people directly, or parents (we can also talk to parents about their own sleep issues).

The helpline is open 5 nights a week, Sunday to Thursday, 7-9pm and the number is 03303 530 541.
