From the Principal:
Next week, we have Benchmark Testing on Tuesday and Wednesday. On these days, our campus will be closed to visitors--lunch and classroom. Please make sure that your child is on time, gets a good night's sleep, and eats a good breakfast before testing. Look for more information from your classroom teacher!
Many grade levels will have Thanksgiving Feasts next Friday, the 17th. Look for more information on how you can volunteer/participate from your child's teacher. It's a fun day of eating and remembering why we are thankful!
We are thankful for you at LSRO! Thanks for your partnership and help this school year!
Have a great weekend!
From Our Assessment Specialist:
Due to Fall Benchmark testing, our campus will be CLOSED to parents and visitors on November 14th, and 15th. Parents will not be allowed to eat lunch with students, volunteer, or do classroom observations on these 2 days. Thank you for your cooperation!
These tests give teachers important information about what your child has learned so far and what still needs to be worked on this spring, so please help your child by making sure they get enough sleep and have a good breakfast!
October Staff Member and Teacher of the Month:
Our Staff Member of the Month for October is Kellie Roland. Mrs. Roland is a critical member of our Special Education department here are LSRO. Her bright smile and infectious, positive attitude has kept us going here since she joined the team in 2012.
Kellie and her husband work hard to support our Veterans through their charity, Patriot 29, in honor of a family member. Recently, one of her two boys proposed and they will soon have a daughter-in-law join the Roland ranks.
Mrs. Vela is our wonderful teacher of the month for October. Mrs. Vela has taught 1st grade for three years. She is an excellent teacher, teammate, and friend. She did an outstanding job organizing our Fall Festival, which was a huge success. She got married last year, and enjoys spending time with her husband, José. She also loves to cook and bake. We are so thankful for the leadership and wonderful spirit Mrs. Vela brings to our campus each day!
THE DEADLINE FOR SPECIAL OLYMPIC SHIRTS HAS BEEN EXTENDED:
Thank you to all who have sent in their orders for the Special Olympic t-shirts. We are extending the deadline to Tuesday, November 14th. All orders must be received by 3:40 on that day. You can go to our school website to view the shirt in color. You can also print an order form there if you need one. Remember – the proceeds from the sale of this shirt will go to buy uniforms for our LSRO Special Olympic athletes. The shirt can be worn on Fridays, as well as on Special Olympic meet days in the spring. As an extra incentive, anyone who buys or has bought a shirt will receive a coupon for a free jean day on November 16th. We truly appreciate your support for these amazing student athletes!!
