A Message From Heather Patterson, GRHS Principal
Hello GRHS Longhorns,
This Friday is the LAST DAY OF THE 2ND SIX WEEKS! If you are behind, you better get caught up, we don't want anyone to to ineligible at the end of the six weeks. (November 6th)
We have ALOT of FLYING GOING ON! Consistent WINNING in and out of the classroom, makes everyday a GREAT day to be a Longhorn! Congrats to our BOYS and GIRLS XC on BOTH winning 20-6A District this past week...bring on Regionals!! From sports to fine arts to academics our Longhorns continue to shine! See the pictures at the end to see just a few of the celebrations we have going on! I am one proud principal and can't wait to see us continue to FLY in ALL areas!
Good news! You WILL be able to buy more tickets to the AWAY Ridge Point Game on Friday at Mercer. I will be EMAILING the General Sales LINK on Wednesday morning! Join me in FILLING the stands and BRING YOUR A-GAME POSITIVE ENERGY! This is going to be a tough game, so we need your support and cheering on our boys, they feed off of you, and I KNOW we have the BEST fans that can MAKE IT HAPPEN! Let's get Rowdy for our Horns!
Next week we will have about 1,700 Longhorns back with us face to face and class leveling will happen again to maintain as much social distancing as possible with this large of a campus. Just because the classroom size seems small, please keep in mind that teachers are working hard planning, teaching, and juggling 30-40 students per period just based on our campus enrollment being 2785. Randle HS will hopefully provide a little relief next year, but until then we will keep doing our best and trying to keep getting better for our Longhorns and we need them to do the same for themselves.
It is more important than ever that your mask is properly being worn at all times and that you are using the sanitizing stations that are set up in every classroom and throughout the building to help us STAY face to face. As you saw last week (via District email) we had a couple of positives and after contract tracing was done it only affected minimal "exposed" people being quarantined because of the masks being properly worn and limited exposure time around the Covid positive person. This is WHY masks are MANDATORY for you to stay face to face.
We will be tightening up even more this week, as there was a lot of Halloween parties that looked super fun, but not a mask to be found. Please make sure you are protecting yourself and everyone else by properly wearing you mask, sanitizing regularly, and following the social distance protocols in place at all times. This will minimize exposures, and any student refusing to follow the rules will be given disciplinary consequences, which will in turn effect their semester exemptions. This is the ONLY way we can stay face to face and offer all the "EXTRAS" like sports, events, homecoming festivities, etc...
REPEAT (Spirit Flyer CHANGES)
Please see the updated Spirit Week Flyer...there have been some CHANGES due to multiple Fort Bend Schools and entire programs having to quarantine, which means we had to reschedule multiple football games. This is all the MORE reason for us to be wearing our masks and being smart when we are out at public events such as friend/relative parties, sporting events/practices, grocery shopping, and just about everywhere...we don't want to be one of the statistics where an ENTIRE program has to quarantine and forfeit games. Hard work doesn't mean anything if we don't work "smart" and get knocked out of the running on a technicality. That would be heartbreaking for the teams.
*Multi-Purpose Construction started this week! The OUTSIDE main gym entrance will be closed off and students will be directed to use one of the alternate entrances to enter the building. New sidewalks are being poured and safety striping is being added in the next two weeks. New signage will be added to inform everyone, including visitors/spectators coming to cheer on our Longhorns in the gyms.
**Volleyball/Basketball GAME VISITORS- please enter through the exterior entrance near the portables in the back parking lot. (right behind the practice pool).
Thank you so much to all our parents and students reaching out to your Assistant Principal for questions and assistance. Please CONTINUE to email your (or your student's) Assistant Principal , as they can assist you the quickest.

Proctorio Student Resources are Located in the Student Canvas Toolbox Course!
GRHS HS teachers were trained on Proctorio this past week and will be using it moving forward to help maintain test security and reduce cheating. Teachers will be reviewing this with their classes moving forward this week.
Proctorio is a web-based proctoring program that has just been purchased by the district to be used with high school accredited courses. This program will monitor students as they are taking an online exam so that teachers can be notified of any suspicious activity that takes place.
Before you are able to take your test, a couple of steps must be completed:
- Google Chrome must be installed on your laptop or desktop computer. Proctorio does not work with a phone or other mobile device. If you need to download and install Google Chrome, the directions can be found here: Install Google Chrome.
- The Proctorio Chrome Extension must be installed on the computer.
The video and/or step-by-step instructions (in the Canvas Course linked below) will guide you through this process.
If you are using a district provided computer, you can skip these steps as both Chrome and the extension have both been installed. If you are using a personal computer, you will need to follow the steps below to install the extension.

It takes well over $100,000 per year to run the Longhorn Band program. The district does a great job at supporting our band programs, but can only fund a portion of that. The majority of the funds are dependent upon fundraising efforts and sponsorships.
Your donation will help our band students by providing:
• The salary for a Color Guard Director and Percussion Technicians
• Additional instructors and master technicians
• Food and hydration to students during games and competitions
• Equipment and props for marching and performance seasons
• Competition fees
• Travel to competitions and performances
• Multiple end of the year scholarships to graduating seniors
• Leadership camp to 10-13 qualifying candidates each summer
