Thanks to all the 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade families who attended last night's AVID informational meeting--we had a great turnout!
The Jackson PTA will be sponsoring a Field Trip Fundraising campaign to raise money for grade level field trips. Our goal is to raise $6,000 through cash or check donations. Please see flyer below for more details. TOGETHER WE CAN DO THIS!

Field Trip Fundraiser
The Jackson PTA will be sponsoring a Field Trip Fundraising campaign to raise money for grade level field trips for the 2016-17 school year. Field trips have a big impact on Jackson students and we know we can count on our Jackson community for support. Please see flyer below for more details!
Yearbooks are currently available for purchase through the Jackson PTA website, Store tab, for $30 until May. Order your yearbook now!
Your pictures are still needed for the jackson yearbook and it is easier than ever to submit those cute pics!
· Just go to the Apple App Store or Google Playstore and download Balfour Imageshare to your phone or tablet
· Enter the project number 625394
· Enter your name
· Enter your email address (Your name and email address is only for verification, it will not be published or shared with anyone)
· It will ask you for a password, but there is NO password necessary, just skip this.
· Please be sure to include the grade level for picture info!
· You can take pictures on your device that will automatically upload, or you can upload from your gallery
· Pictures needed: Special “days”, events, field trips, parties, assemblies, and just everyday pictures in the class and around the school
· Pictures can also be emailed to Cara Prentice at firstname.lastname@example.org

State and Federal School Report Cards
The State and Federal 2014-2015 School Report Cards for Jackson Elementary has now been released, and posted to the Jackson Elementary website at http://k12.pisd.edu/jackson-elementary-school/tapr. These reports are required by the Texas Legislature and Federal Department of Education. The report provides information concerning student performance on the State of Texas Assessments of Academic Readiness (STAAR), as well as information on student enrollment, class size averages, and financial expenditures. The information contained in the School Report Card is briefly described in the “School Report Card Definitions.” If you have any questions concerning the School Report Cards, please let us know. Jackson Bookworm Challenge
The library is sponsoring the Jackson Bookworm Challenge! What is the Bookworm Challenge, you ask?
The Jackson library received a grant to build a reading program that challenges students to READ. Each grade level has been assigned a specific number of books to read. These books are to be free choice, non-curriculum books that are read on their own free time! We want to build the love of reading in our kids….not just have them see reading as a “job” at school. Reading independently builds vocabulary, helps with writing, aids in knowledge and stretches the imagination! Every time a student reads a book independently, he or she is encouraged to come to the Jackson library to fill out a segment to be added to the grade level bookworm. Watch our bookworms grow as the students take on the challenge!!

Plano West Cheer is happy to present their Mini Cheer Clinic Saturday, February 13, in the Plano West main gym. All elementary school girls and boys are welcome! Participants will learn cheers and skills from the Plano West Cheerleaders and receive a cheer bow! Registration begins at 12:30pm. Clinic is 1:00pm-3:30pm. Cost is $30 payable at registration.
