Less-Paper Spotlight: Digital Rubrics
Even if students turn in a physical document or project or present live, you don't have to use a paper rubric to grade on a rubric!
Create a Google Form where each category is a Likert scale question on a scale of 1-5 or a Dropdown question with a description of the performance level. Then YOU use the Form to grade each student in each category!
Don't forget to add a question for the student name and class period!
BONUS: All scores are saved in a spreadsheet for quick and easy access!
Check out the full Challenge Board HERE. To play along, click the blue "Use Template" button to make your own copy, then share it back to me. After you complete each challenge, add a checkmark image to the square that you did and a comment sharing how it went!
How to edit a picture of a document?
What?! I hear you - it sounds crazy but it totally works! Here's how!
- Take a picture of an old worksheet or test or anything you want to be able to edit digitally.
- Add the picture to your Google Drive.
- Right-click and select "Open with...Google Docs."
- A new Doc will open with the image inserted at the top and the converted text underneath.
NOTE: There will likely be some errors, but isn't that better than re-typing the entire document?!
Classroom Visits
I will stay 10-15 minutes max (unless you request otherwise) and I won't come in if it looks like you're giving a test. I certainly won't make it into every classroom, but I hope to visit 20 or so per school. If you want to be on my MUST VISIT list, fill out THIS FORM so that I can be in contact before I come out.
Help Me Help You!
As you start considering the transition, check out THIS great decision guide created by Tracey Abercrombie, ITS at Liberty Middle School.
If you have something that you'd like help deciding how to convert or change it, please email me! I'd love every chance I can get to play and create things with the new tools that will be helpful to you!
