Important Notes
- If your child will go home a different way than usual, you will need to write a note. If I do not have a note saying they will go home a different way, I will send them home their normal way. Please do not Dojo message to tell me. I do not check my messages on Dojo until after school.
- Please, please make sure your child has a supply of pencils and paper. I am quickly running out of pencils to loan out and my paper supply is gone.
- Our class has a number of students who are tardy each day. Please remember, our day starts at 7:25. Students switch classes at 7:45. Every minute of our day is precious. Thank you..
Language Arts Notes
We had a ball exploring poetry in class. The individual poetry books each student made were fantastic. Although our focus now turns to EOG preparation, poetry will not be forgotten.
We will now return to our Journeys textbook and other reading selections to review skills introduced this year. We will focus a great deal on nonfiction and persuasive pieces. We will also do a mini unit on myths. These folktales are very unique and require some background knowledge to really understand their significance.
Fourth grade Success Time will continue until May. For this rotation, we are focusing on test taking strategies and how to put them into practice. These half hour sessions are intensive, but the payoff has been great.
Social Studies Notes
We are almost through our huge unit on NC government. We have discussed the three branches of government and how they work in our state. We have also discussed rights and responsibilities of citizens. We will soon have a guest speaker from one of the local municipalities come and help our students understand how all of this works locally as an ending our unit.
