Biomedical Applications Now Available
The Biomedical Program is an outstanding opportunity for high school students in Plymouth. It is a 4-year pathway that includes one course each year for four years. Students in this pathway take the following courses: Grade 9 - Principles of Biomedical Science, Grade 10 - Human Body Systems, Grade 11 - Medical Interventions, and Grade 12 - Biomedical Innovations.
The program connects students to courses and experiences that promote career exploration and readiness. Biomedical Science Staff work collaboratively to create an instructional program that is rooted in project based learning and that which fosters partnerships with professionals that expand on the opportunities for Plymouth students.
In order to be considered for acceptance into this program, interested students must complete an online application (bit.ly/biomedapp). Applications are due on Tuesday, February 4, 2020. For more information, check out these links (bit.ly/biomedinfo and bit.ly/pltwbiomed). Note that only current 8th grade students are eligible to apply.

Preparing for the Future
7th and 8th-graders from PSMS attended the Tech Fair at Plymouth South this week. Guidance counselor Mrs. Michelin says this is a great way for the younger students to be exposed to all the different technical programs that are offered; the older students also provide a great perspective of the requirements needed to succeed in a particular program. One 8th-grader stated that the fair helped him decide if he should apply for the tech program or not. Another was glad that programs from both North and South were represented; it made it easier for him to choose which school to apply to. Both agreed that the eating was fun and that the culinary program makes a very good soup with a delicious broth!

DECA Districts
Ms. Schram, Ms. Figlioli and Ms. Goulet prepared our students for months, and then traveled with over 130 students to the DECA Regional Competition at the Seacrest Hotel in Falmouth. In the awards ceremony, North students did very well, making the stage in dozens of different categories and taking home medals, trophies and awards in an impressive number of competitions.
It was another successful year for the PNHS Marketing program! North had 135 attendees, 87 medallions and 12 first place finishes. Next up, all the qualifiers from this regional competition move on to the State Competition in February!
Health Podcasts and Phys. Ed. Olympics
Our Health II Classes are currently scripting and producing 5 minute podcasts relating to different types of addictions using the ANCHOR App. These topics range from substance abuse addictions to behavioral addictions and how they impact our community, loved ones, and peers. Students are practicing the health skills of accessing valid information and advocacy to raise awareness about these addictions. Our students are utilizing interviews with classmates and teachers throughout the building to gather information and opinions on each of these addictions. When these projects are completed, they will have a podcast listening party, learning about each of these addictions and how to raise awareness.
The Physical Education Department just completed its program wide Olympic Unit. Students compete in a wide range of activities with their team all in hopes of bringing home gold!
