Ericson Sea King Weekly Review
Summer Updates June 15-19
Summer Break Update
I hope that you are enjoying your summer break so far. Normally, I wouldn't be sending updates during your vacation time, but I feel that it is important to keep you updated on current district information and changes as they occur in our planning for next year.
Please welcome to our 2 new staff members; Lorna Lewis will be teaching our 4-6 SDC class, and Patricia Silvas who will be teaching our Autism PK-K class. I am still waiting on interviews for our Vice Principal position.
Our office staff is now on their summer break, and will return on August 3rd, so if you have students or parents contact you for assistance they may call the COVID Hotline at 457-3395 or the Technology Hotline at 457-3939.
If you were able to stay up late enough to watch the board meeting on Wednesday- it was a long one! A budget was passed for the 20-21 school year as well as our SPSA for 20-21. One area under discussion this past couple of weeks was maintaining our status as a designated school site and our TSA position. We will maintain our Designated status and site TSA position for the 20-21 school year. This Wednesday June 17th, the board will be discussing FUSD plans for reopening.
During the next 2 weeks Principal's will be working with our district departments in outlining operational and academic structures to begin the school year. Following are some of the articles that we have been reviewing and discussing prior to this week's meetings.

The construction at Ericson is moving along, and I will have an update for you in the next couple of weeks on when you will be able to access your classrooms.
Have a great week everyone!

K6 ELA Wonders/Maravillas Moving to Clever Platform
Message From Curriculum, Instruction, and Professional Learning
In an effort to streamline sign-on access issues, we are moving Wonders/Maravillas fully to the Clever platform. There are no changes in how elementary staff members will log in and access their Wonders/Maravillas platform. Classroom teachers will continue to use their FUSD single sign-on as they have done so for previous years. This work is more about troubleshooting access issues "behind the scenes" between the CIPL and IT/EdTech Departments. Moving forward, staff members will be able to access Wonders/Maravillas two ways:
- Going to Clever, where they will find all the curriculum resources they are rostered for aligned to Atlas (shortcut: go.fresnou.org/clever = from home)
- Signing in directly to Wonders (shortcut: go.fresnou.org/wonders = from home)
Please note, there may be a short disruption to accessing Wonders/Maravillas online between July 20-24 during the migration of electronic files.
Questions: Janie De La Cerda at Janie.Delacerda@fresnounified.org in the Curriculum, Instruction, and Professional Learning Department.

June 8, 10, 15, & 17 I 9:00-9:40 Fisher & Frey Book Club Creating Student Ownership of Learning
We all know that collective efficacy is the new number one influence on students’ learning. And there is good reason for that. In part, efficacious teachers ensure that their students are assessment-capable, which means that students understand their current level of performance and compare that with the desired level of learning. Assessment-capable learners and their teachers select direct, dialogic, and independent learning approaches they know will help attain their shared learning goals. They also seek feedback from others, provide others with feedback, and monitor their learning from acquisition through consolidation to mastery. Cost: FREE! *Purchase of the book is highly encouraged for participation. The book for this session is Developing Assessment Capable Visible Learners
