Message from the Building Administration
Good Evening Bobcat Families,
We have had a smooth transition back to school after the much needed break and are looking forward to continuing our learning for the next 2 weeks until Winter Break. I know holidays can add a number of complications to family schedules and, as you know, attendance is vitally important for students to make the necessary growth each school year. Thank you to the families who have been making sure your child is present and on-time. Working in collaboration with you ensures we can provide each child with the necessary tools for success! If any families need support getting your child to school on-time please do not hesitate to reach out.
Sincerely,
Joanna Gerritsen and Jared Reardon
Diversity Club comes to WC Petty!
Welcome Diversity Club to WC Petty! Thirteen students have embarked on a new journey, and Tuesday the first meeting started with introductions and discussion about what diversity means to them. One of the students replied, “Diversity means to learn about other people.” Once snack time was over, they defined diversity and created their folders for their upcoming diversity projects. The Diversity Club is a group of students who meet (once or twice a month) to discuss and plan activities which helps to celebrate, educate and bring awareness to the many differences that make up the students at W. C. Petty Elementary. So excited about what this great club has to offer our students. Shout-out to Mrs. Furlet and Mrs. Jordan, the Diversity Club sponsors!
From the Nurse
The State of Illinois School Health Law requires that children in kindergarten, 2nd and 6th grades have a dental examination on file no later than May 15th of the current school year. A dental examination completed within 18 months prior to May 15th of the current school year is acceptable. If you have not done so, please turn a copy of this exam in to your school nurse. Thank you!

iPad Cases
District CCSD 34 has placed iPad cases and screen protectors on the student iPads to keep them safe. Please encourage your students to refrain from taking the cover/screen protector off. The District issued cover should remain on the iPad at all times.
iPad Photos and Videos
Just a friendly reminder that students should have only school related pictures and videos on their District issued iPad. We are seeing a large percent of pictures and videos on student iPads that appear to be non-school related. This takes up much needed storage space for school related activities. If families could routinely monitor these pictures and videos at home that would help to keep the iPads free of space. Please delete these types of photos and videos from the iPad and then delete them from the deleted photos. Thank you so much for your help with this task.
