Weight Room Opportunity @ DB
Dobyns Bennett's strength and conditioning coach, Zach Fleming, will be holding workouts for Middle School Athletes on Mondays and Wednesdays from 3:15-4:30 starting January 9th. There will be a bus that will take students to DB if students need a ride. Anyone planning on playing football next year needs to take advantage of this opportunity and those individuals need to come see Coach Spivey or Coach Colobro.
Note: This is not just for football. The weight room will be open to ALL Middle School athletes at that time.

Items needed
- Our STEM classes are in need of unwanted electronics. We will take whatever you have that kids can take apart. We have very few things to reverse engineer at this time. Please email artrue@k12k.com if you have questions regarding this. You can drop off at the front office and let them know the items are for Mrs. True's STEM class.
- Our clothes closet is in need of the following: joggers/sweatpants/leggings (elastic waist pants). Needed sizes are: adult M, L, XL. Keep us in mind as you are cleaning out closets/drawers or as you pass a clearance rack. We will be happy to take items that are gently used, as well as new items. We appreciate your donations to help us keep our clothes closet stocked.

8th grade students will complete the Tennessee Department of Mental Health & Substance Abuse Services survey on Wednesday, January 18, 2023
All 8th grade guardians have received this information via email.
Dear Parents/Guardians of John Sevier Middle School 8th grade students,
In coordination with the Tennessee Department of Mental Health & Substance Abuse Services (TDMHSAS), Sevier Middle School will be administering the 2022-23 TN Together Student Survey in the coming days. This anonymous survey is administered every two years to students across Tennessee to support the development of a state comprehensive plan to combat opioid addiction and reduce overdose deaths in Tennessee. The anonymous statewide survey measures patterns and prevalence of adolescent alcohol and other drug use and related risk and protective factors. Information gathered will be utilized by the TDMHSAS to bolster state and local capacity to design prevention and intervention programs tailored to meet community needs and address local youth substance use issues.
The survey will be administered online at school and takes approximately 15 minutes. It is administered anonymously, so that no information can be used to identify individual student responses. The survey administration method was reviewed by the Institutional Review Board (IRB) of the Tennessee Department of Mental Health and Substance Abuse and has received full IRB approval (IRB Study #2020.10.03).
Sevier Middle School is scheduled to administer the survey to all 8th graders beginning on Wednesday, January 18, 2023. Per KCS Board Policy 6.4001, parents/guardians may review this survey and may elect to opt their child out of participation. Click here to view the survey. If you wish to opt your child out of participation, click here. The deadline to opt your child out of participation in the survey is Monday, January 16, 2023 at 11:59 p.m.
Additional information may be found by clicking here to view a survey FAQ.
