Modern Useage

Traditionally, archives were paper records. More recently, internet archives have been popping up. A lot of websites have archives pages that contain articles and posts from a few years ago- Time Magazine Online and Tumblr are just a couple examples.

Smithsonian Institution Archives
- Smithsonian itself contains over 137 million objects currently, but Smithsonian Archives keeps records of everything that has ever been in any of the museums

Library of Congress
- largest library in the world with over 838 miles of shelves
- has largest collection of rare books - 700,000 volumes including Gutenberg Bible
