A Message to the MPHS Community
Dear Parents and/or Guardians,
I hope this newsletter finds your family doing well. There is a A LOT of information below and I have listed those items in order in the hopes that it will be easier to access and find what you are looking for:
- Class of 2020 Cap & Gown information for curbside pick-up (May 22)
- If your child is enrolled in Health & PE 10 and would like to complete the Driver's Education learning module needed to earn a driver's permit, please see the link below. Driver's Ed starts on Monday!
- Updated MPCS grading plan. Students must complete a minimum of two out of three modules for each class in order to receive the standard credit. Students who complete three out of three modules, will receive 10 points on their grade as of 3/13.
- AP Testing is coming up soon! The revised testing schedule is below.
- NOVA will be hosting a webinar for senior parents. Information is below.
- Updated information about applying to NOVA's Jump Start program is included. Important details are included regarding Class of 2021 applicants.
- This year's Yearbook will be one for the ages. Order yours below!
- Virginia Tech is hosting a Hispanic College Institute. Information is below. The application due date is coming up this weekend.
- American Pool Virginia is hosting a Virtual Job Fair and offering life guarding opportunities.

I apologize for the amount of information, but many of these items would normally be on the school announcements. I want to make sure we get all of these items out to our school community.
Teacher/staff appreciation week is next week! MPHS has such an amazing staff. I know our staff would appreciate a thank-you note from parents and/or students! Please feel free to email them your appreciation! They have been working so hard the last two months to ensure that continuous learning is taking place.

- The virtual interest meeting will be Wednesday, May 13th (ALL MUST ATTEND)
- Auditions Wednesday May 20th, both via Canvas. You must audition if you are new or would like to change drums.
- Audition cadences will be sent out via Google Folder once application is submitted. All you will need to audition are a device (phone, laptop, etc.), drumsticks and something to play on (drum, book, pillow, bed, etc.) Cymbal players can clap to imitate cymbal moves. You may audition for more than one position if desired.
- There will be other current/former drumline members available to assist you with learning cadences if needed. (listed on website)
