Congratulations from Rochester Philharmonic Youth Orchestra!
It is with great pride to announce that one of our own Spry Student is a member of the 21-22 Rochester Philharmonic Youth Orchestra (RPYO). Jaylinan is the only Spry student participating in the RPYO. It is very unusual to be selected as a middle school student!
Congratulations Jaylinan J! Spry is so proud of you and your accomplishment.

Sixth Grade Annual Pumpkin Fun Run
On Tuesday, October 19 after school, Spry will hold its annual
Pumpkin Run for Sixth Graders, sponsored by the Cross Country team.
The one mile fun run is a course marked out in the Spry fields that
ends through a running chute with a clock marking the time.
Students will gather in the back gym before and after the run.
Sign-up will start next week outside each sixth grade Science classroom.
There will be no intramurals on this day and students who participate in the
run are asked to be picked up for a ride home. Parents are welcome to
come and watch the fun run.

October is Cybersecurity Awareness Month
October is designated as Cyber Security Month. See attached newsletter from BOCES on some really good cyber security practices to help keep all of us safe.
Be Cyber Smart
As our lives have become increasingly dependent on technology, virtually all personal and business data is kept on internet-connected platforms, which can become a gold mine for bad actors.
The first full week of Cybersecurity Awareness Month will highlight best security practices and focus on general cyber hygiene to keep your information safe.
Own your role in cybersecurity by starting with the basics. Creating strong passwords and using multi-factor authentication, backing up your data, and updating your software are great places to start. This is a great way to Do Your Part #BeCyberSmart!
Resources
Every individual should own their role in protecting their information and securing their systems and devices. There are many steps individuals can take to enhance their cybersecurity without requiring a significant investment or the help of an information security professional. NCSA highlights eight tips you can put into action now.
The Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) has tip sheets to help you stay safe online including:
- Social Media Security
- Creating Passwords
- Online Privacy
- Multi-Factor Authentication
- Cybersecurity While Traveling
- Cybersecurity at Work
Upcoming Events
