JA (Junior Achievement) In a Day
We had an awesome day this past week on Halloween when more than 40 volunteers came to our campus to work with our kiddos. They were a a part of Junior Achievement, and it was brought to us through the Gainesville Education Foundation. Those pictured below spent their entire day in the classroom with our kids teaching about business, communities, and money. The kids has a blast and I think most of the volunteers left being very appreciative of all the hard work our teachers do n a daily basis! We look forward to next year and having them back again!
Red Ribbon Week Ends
Mrs. McDonald, our school counselor, concluded red ribbon week this week. Red Ribbon Week is a yearly reminder to our students about the dangers and hopelessness of drugs. Below are some pictures of kiddos and a few of our doors that were decorated for this week!
Gifted and Talented
GISD is now accepting referrals for students who may need Gifted/Talented Services for the school year. This program is designed for students who exhibit intellectual and creative thinking abilities at an extraordinary level not normally served in the regular classroom. Services are provided only upon identification of education needs of the student.Anyone wishing to refer a student attending Gainesville ISD in kindergarten through 12th grade this school year is asked to go by the student’s campus office and request a copy of the referral form. This form must be returned to the school by November 30. Those unable to go by the school should call 940.665.4362 to request a form be sent to them.
Note From The Principal
This week, we have a group coming in to our school to talk about bullying. This is a fun assembly that the kids will be talking about when they get home! Bullying is taken very seriously here at Chalmers. The key is though to know the difference between actually bullying and a kid that is just being mean.
The link above is a great article on how to tell the difference between the two. Bullying is not a one time thing. For example, your child comes home and tells you that he was pushed down at recess. Is that bullying ? It depends on many factors. We encourage all of our students to report when an incident happens and then we will investigate. All of our students are important to us and we want everyone to feel safe and loved when they enter these doors.
If you ever need anything, I am just a phone call or email away.
