Device Distribution Update

Last week I informed you that our Board of Directors approved the purchase of new Chromebooks. As you may know s Chromebooks are in high demand, NACP like most, if not all, schools is experiencing a delay in delivery. After discussing with our administrators and staff rather than waiting for all devices to be in, we will deliver one device per family. When the remaining Chromebooks arrive we will notify families and we will set additional device pick up dates.

  • 130 New Chromebooks were delivered to NACP during summer break
  • 150 laptops additional from last Spring are available for students to use
  • 360 Chromebooks are on back-order or delayed (we check for updates daily)

Device Distribution Plan:

Device Pick Up Dates- September 2-3 9:00am to 12:00pm

NACP will provide ONE device (Chromebook or Laptop) per family to use for Distance Learning. Students will connect with their teachers and peers for Zoom Classes and will use them to complete online learning.

Continue working on assignments provided in the Home Study Packets. Pick up devices at a later time.

NACP will inform families when the rest of the new Chromebooks are available for pick up and will schedule dates for families to come pick up additional devices and/or to exchange devices.

Zoom and Google Classroom Learning:

The first couple of weeks will consist of Getting to Know You Activities, rules, expectations and procedures plus training on how to use learning tools. Teachers will also provide Zoom links or live training to help parents navigate Online Learning Platforms.

I’ve left the table with the State Instructional Minutes Required by grade level as a reference. We will share more details in the next few days and even more closer to launch day!

Big picture

I’ve always had a love for learning and teaching. When I was a child, I could be found teaching my stuffed animals and pets to play “school.” I’ve tried to lead by example, acknowledge, and learn from my mistakes, be honest, have integrity, and work for my success. It has been my honor and pleasure to be an educator and serve students and families from Pacoima to Santa Paula and in between. I am proud to say that this year will be my 25th year in education and I’m happy to be spending it with my NACP family.

Inspirational Video of the Week

Students react to hearing "I believe in you"

In Community ISD, we were recently inspired by a video created by Mr. Henry of El Dorado High School (you can watch that video here: showing what it looks like when teachers tell students they are important and inspiring. Realizing the power of intentionally speaking life into young people, we wanted to give some of our teachers and students the same experience. We want to challenge educators everywhere to take time today to do the same thing. Start a movement. Tell a young person that you BELIEVE in them!

At NACP, We Believe in YOU!!!
