FROM THE HEAD'S DESK

Year 11 seem to have survived their Mock GCSE exams, this will be a good opportunity to ensure they are up to speed with their academic progress.

Many thanks to the Year 9 pupils who led the assembly on World Aids and as said ignorance, not kissing, spreads the disease.

Congratulations to the Senior Rugby Squad who on Wednesday won both the 1st XV and 2nd XV Super Six league titles, two outstanding performances. Well done also to the Geography Quiz teams who came 4th and 5th out of eleven in their competition.

I hope to see as many as possible on the streets of Maidenhead Town Centre tomorrow as we perform music and drama in the Art on the Street Festival.

What you do today can improve all your tomorrows. Ralph Marston

Last Saturday I heard the very sad news that David Wilding, father of James and Hugh Wilding, and founder of Claires Court with his wife Josephine, had died peacefully overnight at his nursing home in Norfolk. Even after his retirement from day-to-day management of the school in 1989 (I was one of the last staff to be employed by him), David retained a keen and active interest in the school’s life, returning to Maidenhead on a frequent basis to participate in strategic meetings and discussions and attend speech days, until blindness and increasing frailty made this no longer practical. A full obituary is available on the website and it is planned to celebrate his life at our annual Commemoration Service at the end of next term on 22 March 2016. There will be a Requiem Mass said for David at St Joseph’s Church, Cookham Road, Maidenhead at 11.00am on 23 December. RIP.
