Spring is here!!!
Dear Parents/Guardians,
Spring has finally sprung and the weather is getting nicer! Our morning meetings have proven to be very rewarding and educational. Autism Awareness month is celebrated in April. The students are learning Autism facts. April is also poetry month and Earth Day is celebrated. The students are learning about some of my favorite poems. One of my favorite poetry books is written by Shel Silverstein, Where the Sidewalk Ends. He is also the author of A Light in the Attic, Falling Up, and Every Thing on It! He was a poet who made children smile around the world. He is also the author of The Giving Tree. Some classes are also being creative and writing their own poetry.
Wharton School would love to send shout outs to our paraprofessionals. On Wednesday, April 5, 2023 we honored Ms. Padilla, Ms. S. Solis, and Ms. L. Solis. We appreciate all of their hard work and dedication. Paraprofessional Day is a wonderful opportunity to celebrate staff who contribute to making a difference in our students.
This week our 5th graders started taking the Illinois Science Assessment. This is a test aligned to the new Illinois Learning Standards in Science. STEAM teachers in our district follow the Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS). These standards reinforce engagement and integrated topics.
