School Starts Too Early

Why Teens Don't Get Enough Sleep
The reason that most teens aren't getting enough sleep is because of of something called a "sleep-wake cycle." As children become teenagers, their sleep-wake cycle shifts two hours later, so it's difficult, if not impossible, for them to go to sleep before 10:30 P.M. The average teenager can't fall asleep before 11 P.M.
Teens Sleeping in Class
This sleep deprivation can lead to teens falling asleep in class, causing them to not learn what the teacher is teaching and therefore, getting a bad grade.
Late For School
When their alarm clocks go off in the morning, they probably don't want to get out of bed because they're so tired. The result of this can be for teens to be late or absent from school.
Biological research shows that circulation rhythms shift during the teen years pushing boys and girls to stay up later at night and sleep later into the morning.
