President's Message

It feels like spring has finally arrived. As your club activities are tapering off for the summer - the state, regional and national activities are a great opportunity to fill the gap. The Centennial Convention is coming right up! We hope you will join us as we celebrate our heritage of the past 100 years. We have an exciting convention planned for you! Hope to see you there!

Centennial Convention ~ May 17-19 ~ Kansas City, MO

The convention committee has been working hard to plan this momentous occasion. We would most appreciate if you would register as soon as possible - so we can make proper arrangements for the meals. We are delighted to have internationally acclaimed composer, arranger, pianist Mark Hayes and to host NFMC National President Michael Edwards. There will be a Centennial Choir directed by Mark Hayes, which will perform on Saturday morning. Our Friday night concert will feature Mark Hayes and former Young Artists Mia Hynes and James Cockman III. Mark Hayes will speak at our opening session Friday morning, present a reading session Friday afternoon and present a workshop on Improvisation/Arranging/Modulating on Saturday morning. The senior track will enjoy a Saturday morning presentation by Music Therapist Rachelle Norman. David Izzard will give a fascinating presentation on how music makes its way to the big screen on Saturday morning as well. The Saturday morning concert will include former Ellis Duo Janet Fetterman with Mia Hynes and 2018 Most Musical Family, the Bryant family from Bolivar, Mo.

We are looking forward to the lovely historical booklet put together by our Historian Connie Craig. Each district will give a presentation on a 20 year span of our history. What MFMC memories do you have? Conventions are a great time to relive - and make new ones! We hope you will join us as we celebrate!

Federation Days at Opera in the Ozarks

Missouri is the host state for Federation Days at Opera in the Ozarks in Eureka Springs for July 18-21. That means we handle the registration, take care of the National Guest, host the Friday night banquet (including decorating the tables) and provide the floral centerpiece for the platform/head table. It would be so wonderful to have a strong showing of members. If you haven't been before, you are in for a treat. We hear such wonderfully talented singers. It really is a lot of great music with just a little bit of meetings. This year's season will feature Rossini's "Barber of Seville", Moore's "Ballad of Baby Doe", and Strauss' "Die Fledermaus". More details are coming soon!
Northwest Arkansas Gives was a success! We raised $10,975 total. Thank you to all that contributed! Your support is always appreciated!
