In honor of Veterans Day, Madras Middle School would like to recognize the courageous men and women of our community who have served in the Armed Forces. Madras staff and students will be commemorating this day with a variety of activities including a Veterans Day Remembrance assembly. We would like to honor any veterans in your family by inviting them to be our guests at our school’s Veterans Day Assembly on Thursday, November 9th, 2017 at 9:00 a.m. along with your family. If you will be joining us, please RSVP to Tammy Lenderman by calling 770-254-2744 or by emailing tammy.lenderman@cowetaschools.net before Monday, November 6th.
A continental breakfast will precede the program at 8:30 a.m. in the cafeteria for our veterans and special guests. The assembly will start promptly at 9:00 a.m. in the gymnasium.

Media Notes
We have been very blessed in the library media center to have some excellent parent volunteers who have been helping us to keep the library running smoothly. They have been assisting students, checking in and out books, shelving books, straightening the library, covering new books, getting rid of old books, etc. We are in need of some additional volunteers for our upcoming Scholastic Book Fair. If you are interested in volunteering for a time slot during our Book Fair, please click the link and sign up. Even if you can only volunteer for one hour, that would be very appreciated. We will need help running our check out station and helping to restock and assist students during our fair. Our Scholastic Book Fair will be held on Friday, November 10-Friday, November 17. We truly appreciate your help!

Amy Brandon, PTSO President
Welcome to Madras! The purpose of our PTSO is to help improve our school by combining the efforts of parents, students, and teachers. We invite you to join PTSO to help make our school a better place to work and learn! Our fundraising efforts have benefited a variety of projects in the past including school building improvements, teacher instructional requests, equipment for the fine arts department, instructional technology purchases, and athletic programs. This year, our goal is to raise enough funds to purchase an electronic sign in front of the school to replace the old signage. We hope to reach this goal by the end of the school year. We ask that each family join PTSO with a $12.00 contribution. (Checks should be made payable to Madras PTSO.)
We also need your volunteer time! If you are interested in assisting with any of the areas below, please print the form below linked beneath, and indicate in the appropriate section. Return the form to the MMS front office or to your child's homeroom teacher. You will be contacted as the events take place.
There are many opportunities to serve through PTSO:
- Snack n Chat (Monthly)
- School Store (rotational schedule

Thanks in advance for your support!
Box Tops Update
By Gina Johnson, PTSO Box Top Coordinator
October BoxTops Update
The students and faculty did a great job clipping and turning in BoxTops for thefirst collection period! So far, $815.00 will go towards the Madras school fund! Congrats to Mrs. Shaw's homeroom - they were the winner of the Chick-Fil-A breakfast.
Reminder:
Only BoxTops that have not expired will count.
BoxTops can simply be placed in a baggie, but the baggie should be labeled with the student’s name and homeroom to get credit.
Keep those BoxTops coming in! Thank you for thinking of Madras by remembering to clip those BoxTops! Download the BoxTops app or visit the BoxTops website http://www.boxtops4education.com/ for contests and more ways to earn for our school!
