Help with T-shirt Re-Design!

We need our students help! We are looking to re-design our GanandaProud t-shirts and we need your input. Can you help us re-design a t-shirt focusing on GanandaProud? There are a couple of rules:

  1. You must have the Gananda Proud Logo (See photo below) incorporated somewhere on the T-shirt
  2. School Colors should be present (you can incorporate other colors, however, Navy, Light Blue and White should be present).
  3. You should have what each letter in PROUD stands for somewhere in the design (P= Practice Self-Control, Respect, Outstanding, Unity, Driven).
A blank t-shirt template is shown below if you would like to use this to get started. Submit your illustrations/renderings to the main office of each school building by Friday, November 12, 2021. Students in all grades are invited to participate!

Once all designs are reviewed, several designs will be presented for a final vote. Our plan is to kick off 2022 with a fresh take on #GanandaProud!

Quarantining and Contact Tracing

As the COVID-19 cases in our county and surrounding counties have climbed recently, Wayne County Public Health has shared some important information about Quarantining and Contact Tracing that is now available on our website under the COVID-19 Information Hub. In the event that your student needs to quarantine, these are good references to have. The safety and health of our students and staff continues to be a top priority and we continue to practice mask wearing, good hand hygiene, and social distancing of 3ft in all of our schools in an effort to minimize exposure.

The flu is not just a really bad cold. The flu is a contagious illness that affects the nose, throat, lungs, and other parts of the body. It can spread quickly from one person to another. It can cause mild to severe illness, and at times can lead to death.

Unlike a cold, flu symptoms start suddenly. They appear about 1 to 4 days after a person is exposed to the flu.

Flu symptoms may include:

  • Fever or feeling feverish/chills
  • Cough
  • Sore throat
  • Runny or stuffy nose
  • Muscle or body aches
  • Headache
  • Tiredness
  • Some people have vomiting or diarrhea. This is more common in children.

The flu usually spreads from person to person when someone with the flu coughs or sneezes. Sometimes people get the flu because they touch an object or surface with flu virus on it -- and then touch their eyes, nose, or mouth.

The best way to prevent the flu is by getting a flu vaccine.

Everyone 6 months or older should get a flu vaccine every year.

Richard Mann Elementary is using a program called PikMyKid to help organize the school dismissal process and improve safety. This program is an app downloaded onto your smart phone. The app can be found in the app store and will allow you to notify the school of pick-up changes and authorize others to pick-up your child from school, alert you when your child has been picked up or sent home on the bus, as well as help organize the car line during pick-up.

The registration process is easy and we have included several resources below to help you understand how to use the application and assist you with the app. Please make sure when registering you use your personal current mobile phone number or the app will not allow you to access your child’s information; this is for security reasons.

If you do not think the school has your mobile number on file or if your child does not appear in your app’s home page, contact support@pikmykid.com after registration, with your child’s name, school, grade, and your updated contact information.

Anyone who will be picking up your child should also register with the application. Their screen will be blank and they will not have any authorization until you allow it within the app.

To learn more about how to use the PikMyKid App, be sure to watch the PikMyKid Parent Training Video.

For more information, go to the Gananda website.
