Blanche Dodd Bobcat News

A message from Principal Bolz
I am struggling to find the words to share with you how much my heart hurts concerning the current events in our country. My heart hurts to see the loss of human life at the hands of another. My heart hurts to see the oppression and discrimination that my black and brown friends have endured based on the color of their skin. My heart hurts to see and hear the disrespect poured out on our law enforcement officials as they report to work day in and day out to protect us and uphold the laws of our community. My heart hurts for all of our children who are watching and experiencing any portion of these events. I am convinced that we need to come together to support each other now more than ever.
Our Dodd Bobcat Expectations include PRIDE in ourselves, pride in others, pride in our community, and pride in our country. That means having pride in who you are regardless of whether or not you look and act the same as others. Our Bobcat Expectations include having a positive ATTITUDE which includes caring for others and showing respect in our words and actions. Our Bobcat Expectations include making WISE CHOICES when everyone is watching and when no one is watching. Our children are watching the choices we make daily. Teach them respect by demonstrating respect through your actions and words. Finally our Bobcat Expectations include SAFETY. We teach students that our actions and/or words can lead to situations that could put themselves or someone else in an unsafe situation, so we encourage our children to demonstrate safe actions and kind words.
We have taught and practiced the six pillars of character throughout the school year. Those pillars are the characteristics that we feel our students need to navigate life. Trustworthiness, Respect, Responsibility, Fairness, Caring, and Citizenship are traits that we teach, encourage, and celebrate during our House meetings, guidance lessons, and monthly House celebrations. Ask your children about each of these traits and discuss how they can demonstrate them and share them with others.
This is the time for us to come together, to live by the Golden Rule (treat others the way you want them to treat you), to stand up for others, and to show kindness. We know how to do this because at Dodd we live by these traits in our Six Houses that make up our ONE family!
It's a GREAT day to be a Bobcat at Dodd Elementary where we are...
Six Houses...One Family!

Parents,
If your child is showing distress during these uncertain times, please don't hesitate to reach out to me at tracy.reynolds@krumisd.net. Our students have faced so much over the past few months with abnormal school situations and being away from their friends. Our country is hurting and our children take in more than we realize.
I check email daily, so please email me, and I will be there to either Zoom or talk to your child on the phone.
