Summer Slice Vol. IX

The LAST Edition of the Summer LA Staff News

Back to School Information

As always, we have a lot to do to get ready for kids! Many nuts and bolts are covered here, as well as your inservice agenda for next week. Basically, if you haven't read anything else this summer, make sure you check this out!

Why are you still reading? I'm serious!! If you read ANYTHING in this one, you NEED to click on the link. :)

What does an LA staffer do in the summer??

The Smith family spent five days in NYC, four days in DC, and three days in Virginia Beach. The kids enjoyed navigating the subway, learning about George Washington's teeth at Mount Vernon, and eating ice cream every night. For 14 days their dad was not talking about school or education which is what the family enjoyed most.

However, Art's truck and cell phone have been wracking up the miles and minutes as every time I've talked to him in the last week he has been headed to, from, or IS talking to an LA partnership. Needless to say, Art's vacation is over and he is in full-on school mode blazing the way to bury traditional education.

Quotes! I need your quotes! (No, not your movie lines, guys!)

I have a few projects in the works that could use your favorite quotes that are most applicable to our students!! PLEASE, take some time to send me your quotes as soon as possible. One may find its way on the front windows while others may be on the bathroom stalls and who knows where else. (No Joe, not the "Vaping is Illegal Here" quote)

Thank you for taking the time to share them with me!

Staffing Update

Mr. Edward (Eddie) Richey will be filling the role of ISS this year. Richey is a recent graduate of NWMSU where he had the honor of being the captain of the football team. Richey had a summer opportunity where he was a counselor for at-risk youth, and he looks forward to building on those experiences. Mr. Richey is passionate about developing leadership skills in youth, as well as striving to be a positive role model in all areas of his life. I look forward to having Mr. Richey on the team!

Quarterly Tech PD

The District is requiring the buildings to host quarterly tech professional development for our building. This does not have to be anything fancy. If you are willing to share something with staff, please let me know!!!

I will have to submit a technology plan to central office (by August 10th, yikes). If there is something you'd like to LEARN this year, let me know that, too!

Registration is HERE!

Registration will be on Monday from 3:00-6:00 and Tuesday from 9:00-12:00. Swing by for a bit to meet our families. We'd love to see you!
