He was Born in September 25, 1930

Shel Silverstein was a cartoonist, an author, a poet, and a songwriter. He attended the Chicago Academy of Fine Arts but later dropped out. He then joined the military where he began his career.


He Died In May 10, 1999 of heart failure

Silverstein's A Boy Named Sue won a 1970 Grammy

Grammy Award for Best Album for Children, "Where the Sidewalk Ends" in 1985

He was nominated for an Oscar for his song I'm Checking Out

He was inducted into the Nashville Songwriters Hall Of Fame in 2002

I chose these poems because they have caught my attention. I like Rhythm, Rhyme, and Repetition because they are fun to read.

Why should he be recognized?

I think Silverstein should be recognized because he has made many awards and has brought smiles to kids and adults faces. He is very talented and has made an impact on our culture.
