Linguisitic Apps - an overview
This is a list of apps we feel are appropriate for all content areas when working with ELL students. This is NOT a comprehensive list. These are just some to get you started. These apps lend themselves to the language development needs of ELLs but are also wonderful choices for ALL students!
Book Creator
Students can create their own books adding text, pictures, video, and narration. (Full version in our purchased app catalog.)
Skitch
This app imports photos directly allowing students the ability to annotate, add text, drawing and arrows.
(Currently not available for download. Will work if the app was previously added to the iPad. Waiting for update.)
Popplet Lite
Graphic organizer that helps students organize their thoughts and ideas using text and images. (What I call mind mapping...)
Tellagami
Voice recording is not yet working with iOS8 update.
Educreations
An interactive whiteboard and screen casting tool. Students can annotate, animate, and narrate as they explain any concept.
Thinglink
Create interactive video and images.
Haiku Deck
This is a presentation app that allows students to build vocabulary and imagery.
Word Mover
Student can create "found poetry" using this app and the word banks and existing famous poems. (Similar to magnetic poetry.)
Kid in Story
Create personalized stories. (This is in our Purchased App Catalog.)
Word Lens - A Translator App
Word Lens - An app that translates any word into students' native language using the iPad camera.
All of these apps are available in the Spring Valley Student App Catalog.
