Some of my new favorite sites
Web 2.0: Cool Tools for Schools
This site provides links to many other resources. One that I found particularly useful would be the slideshow tools with I would use to share lectures online as well as use the audio and links to make them more interactive and interesting.
Surfnetkids
This is a great site that provides a safe way for kids to surf the net. One of my favorite features of this site was the people in history topic. It provides useful information on many well known historical figures.
playtalklearn.com
I loved the idea on this site about cutting out letters from food boxes before recycling them to use for practicing spelling words. I think this would be a great way to engage kids, especially those in younger grades in practicing spelling words.
www.minds-in-bloom.com
I really like the activities I found on this website for fun dictionary activities. Students should be familiar with the dictionary and know how to use it as a resource. This site provided many fun activities for getting acquainted with the dictionary such as a speed word search and a dictionary scavenger hunt.
xtimeline
This is a great website that allows you to create and share timelines, along with pictures and videos. This website would be a great tool for students to use if they were doing a history project or anything requiring them to show a sequence of events. Could also be used by teachers to make lectures more interesting!
exploratree
Exploratree provides lots of great organizers that students can print out or fill in online. You can choose from the many available templates or customize them or even create their own. This site is also completely free.
Tubechop
Tubechop allows you to select only the parts you want to keep out of a video. This could be useful when giving presentations because it allows you to use only the parts of the video that you need while eliminating the rest so you don't have to waste time rewinding and fast-forwarding or watch extra video.
Equizzer
Equizzer allows teachers and students to create their own quizzes. They can customize the number of questions and questions asked. Currently questions can only be multiple choice but their are plans in place to enable other types of questions.
Jeopardy Labs
Jeopardy Labs allows you to create a customized jeopardy template without PowerPoint. The games you make can be played online from anywhere in the world. This site is easy to use and free!
