The Mustang Round Up
May 7, 2023
May is Asian Pacific American Heritage Month!
Good Evening Mustang Families,
Thank you to everyone for all of your support during Staff Appreciation Week. Our MMO parents hosted a wonderful week of activities and treats for staff including tacos, sandwiches, waffles, and much more. A special thank you to Gail Faber, Sarah Kelly, Julianne Super, Debra Toth, and the entire MMO for hosting a wonderful staff appreciation and for making our staff feel so appreciated.
Library of Us and Festival of Cultures This Week
I am very excited about two new events our parent DEI Committee is hosting this week. First is the Festival of Cultures on Wednesday during lunchtime where we have tables and performances from different countries and cultures around the world. Students will have a chance to experience the diverse backgrounds represented at Marshall.
Parents, you will not want to miss the Library of Us event on Thursday evening from 6:30-7:30 pm. This is a new event that we are very excited about. If you have ever struggled to communicate with your child about why it's important to be accepting and inclusive of people from different backgrounds, this event is for you. The Library of Us is a unique format that creates a safe space for sharing difficult questions and information about lived experiences between “books” and “readers”. Adult human "books" from a wide array of experiences, will be available for "readers" to talk to and learn more about their experience in a positive, safe space. "Books" represent Military Veterans, disabled persons, Muslim, Jewish Rabbi, member LGBTQIA community, and more. If you or your child has ever wanted to ask a question to a person living these experiences, this will be your chance in a safe and welcoming environment. With so much hate and divisiveness in our world today, opportunities like this can help bring our community together. It’s hard to harm someone if you know their story.
Have a great week!
Josh Way, Ed.D
Dismissal for Every Monday in 23/24 will be 1:52pm
