Leaders Are Readers

WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 11, 6:00 p.m.

In addition to our older students reading, St. Ann author and 2nd grade student Savannah Posley will read her published book "Quokka & Me: Goodbye So-Fly My Butterfly." Leaders Are Readers is a virtual story time geared toward PreK-2nd Graders and hosted by our junior high students. The link to join will be emailed that afternoon.

Earn a $500 Referral Credit!

Word of mouth is our best recruiting tool! Won't you tell your friends about St. Ann School? Invite them to our upcoming Virtual Q&A for potential new families on WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 11. If your friends decide to send their children to SAS, be sure to give them a referral form so we know who to thank with a $500 tuition credit.

School Spirit Dress Down Day

FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 13

Wear your finest green and gold, team uniforms, spiritwear, whatever you have to celebrate St. Ann School Spirit!

The Archdiocese of Chicago Office of Catholic Schools recently notified us that if we do not aggressively bring down our sizeable school deficit with some new sources of revenue, the future of our school beyond this year is in imminent jeopardy. To this end, the St. Ann School Board has launched the Angel Project, and you should have received a letter and pledge card in the mail.

We are asking EVERYONE--school families, friends, faculty & staff, parishioners, alumni, and community supporters--to pitch in on this effort and make a pledge. We are seeking donors to contribute at any level they are comfortable, but also hoping to gather many $1,000 or higher pledges as quickly as possible to show the Archdiocese we are serious about the future of our school. Pledges can be paid in installments over a 10-month period to make them more manageable.

Please talk with your family and friends, and pray over how you will participate. Ask grandparents and friends to go in on a pledge with you. Check at work if there is a corporate matching program to double your donation. Coming into the end of the year, many people are looking for additional charitable contributions to make for tax purposes--tell them your family's St. Ann story. The full letter may be accessed here if you wish to share it, or you may request additional copies in the office.

Donations may be made by returning the pledge form,

by texting ANGEL to 847-201-4236,

via PayPal to sasangel@stannschoollansing.org,

or at https://www.givecentral.org/location/100/event/27725

Thank you, thank you, thank you for joining in this effort with us!

Principal's Reminders

  • Please return the FSP Household Eligibility Application that came home with the students this week by Wednesday, November 11, regardless of whether or not you would ordinarily qualify for free or reduced meals (all students are receiving them currently because of the USDA waiver due to COVID-19). This information is necessary for St. Ann School to obtain funding for other non-meal initiatives from other state and federal agencies.
  • Now that we are approaching the colder months of the year, all students should be wearing sweatpants on gym day rather than shorts.
  • Snacks sent into school should be nutritious, such as fruit, crackers, vegetables, granola, etc. and packaged in ziploc bags for easy retrieval. Please do not send in candy, chips, etc.

E-Learner Alert!

Do you plan to send your current e-learner back to school in person for the second trimester? The deadline for changing your student's status is THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 19.

Please call me before then at 708.895.1661 or email me at egonzalez@stannschoollansing.org.

The first day of the second trimester is Monday, November 23.

Nominate Your #SchoolHero Today!

We love our Catholic schools’ employees. Teachers, leaders and support staff have worked tirelessly over the summer and the start of our school year to bring exceptional in-person and remote learning to families during this unprecedented time. To recognize their fantastic work, the Office of Catholic Schools is excited to introduce the #SchoolHero program. We’ll highlight the educators and staff who have gone above and beyond in order to ensure a safe and productive learning environment through social media and the web. All school employees and families can nominate a school hero by completing a brief online form.

ARE YOU SENDING IN YOUR STRACKS RECEIPTS? PLEASE ASK OTHERS TO SAVE THEM FOR YOU TOO!

Collect Strack & VanTil Food Market register receipts dated between September 1 and March 1 to help St. Ann earn FREE educational rewards! Every classroom has a Collection Envelope, and we will be tallying the value of the receipts turned in. The class that brings in the most will win a prize!

Did you know your purchases can make a difference? Don't forget to shop through our AmazonSmile link every time! AmazonSmile donates to St. Ann when you do your shopping at smile.amazon.com/ch/36-2601098. And if you purchase Amazon gift cards through the St. Ann TRIP program, you will also get money back toward your tuition!
