Soundtracks to My Life
Event#1 My grandma passed away
Ohhh...
ohhh woah...
Ohhh...
Where are you now
When I need you the most
Why don't you take my hand
I wanna be close
Help me when I am down
Lift me up off the ground
Teach me right from wrong
Help me to stay strong (rhyme)
Take my hand and walk with me
Show me what to be
I need you to set me free (rhyme)
Yeah
Where are you now
Where are you now (repetition)
Now that im half grown
Why are we far apart
I feel so alone
Where are you now
When nothing is going right
Where are you now
I can't see the light
So take my hand and walk with me
Show me what to be
I need you to set me free, yeah, yeah
I need you, to need me
Cant you see me
How could you leave me (rhyme)
My heart is
Half empty
Im not whole
When your not with me
I want you
You with me
To guide me, hold me, love me now
Where are you now
Woahhh...
Where are you now
So take my hand and walk with me
Show me what to be
I need you to set me free, yeah, yeah
Ohhh...
Where are you now
Oh...
Yeah, yeah...
Ohh, ohh...
Yeah...
Mood: Sad
Tone: Unhappy, Blue
Theme: He is growing up and that the lyrics show that. That song is about his dad and having him not always being there.
My grandma passed away when I was in grade 5. I won’t forget that day. When I was in school, and my aunt suddenly came and picked up my brother and I. We felt strange, and I asked “Where are we going? What happened?” My aunt was really anxiety and she said”Your grandma was passed away few hours ago.” I got extremely shocked and I couldn’t believe it. When we arrived grandpa’s house, at the front door, I heard lots of people were crying and then I went to her bedroom, I saw her laid on the bed unmoved. I stood with a heavy heart and I could not hold back the tears that were blurring my eyes. I still remember that she promised me she will take me to Disneyland; she will takes care of me until I get married. But right now she breaks all her promises. I won’t blame on her, I wish that she can have a wonderful life in heaven.
Event#2 Missing my family
"HOME" by Michael Buble
Another summer day
Has come and gone away (rhyme)
In Paris and Rome
But I wanna go home
Mmmmmmmm
May be surrounded by
A million people I
Still feel all alone
I just wanna go home
Oh, I miss you, you know
And I’ve been keeping all the letters that I wrote to you
Each one a line or two
“I’m fine baby, how are you?”
Well I would send them but I know that it’s just not enough
My words were cold and flat (metaphor)
And you deserve more than that
Another airplane
Another sunny place (rhyme)
I’m lucky, I know
But I wanna go home
Mmmm, I’ve got to go home
Let me go home
I’m just too far from where you are
I wanna come home
And I feel just like I’m living someone else’s life (simile)
It’s like I just stepped outside (simile)
When everything was going right
And I know just why you could not
Come along with me
This was not your dream
But you always believed in me
Another winter day has come
And gone away
In either Paris or Rome
And I wanna go home
Let me go home
And I’m surrounded by
A million people I
Still feel alone
And let me go home
Oh, I miss you, you know
Let me go home
I’ve had my run
Baby, I’m done
I gotta go home
Let me go home
It'll all be all right
I’ll be home tonight
I’m coming back home
Mood: sad
Tone: sad, depressed
Theme: "Home" centralizes on the male narrator, who is separated from his lover, possibly his wife, while off travelling. He expresses a desire to return home and be with his lover
Event#3 Meeting my ex-boyfriend in Canada
"Everything" by Michael Buble
You're a falling star, you're the get away car. (metaphor)
You're the line in the sand when I go too far. (metaphor)
You're the swimming pool, on an August day. (metaphor)
And you're the perfect thing to say.
And you play it coy but it's kinda cute.
Ah, when you smile at me you know exactly what you do.
Baby don't pretend that you don't know it's true.
'cause you can see it when I look at you.
[Chorus:]
And in this crazy life, and through these crazy times
It's you, it's you, you make me sing. (repetition)
You're every line, you're every word, you're everything. (metaphor)
You're a carousel, you're a wishing well,
And you light me up, when you ring my bell.
You're a mystery, you're from outer space, (hyperbole)
You're every minute of my everyday.
And I can't believe, uh that I'm your man,
And I get to kiss you baby just because I can.
Whatever comes our way, ah we'll see it through,
And you know that's what our love can do.
[Chorus]
So, la, la, la, la, la, la, la
So, la, la, la, la, la, la, la
[Chorus:]
And in this crazy life, and through these crazy times
It's you, it's you, you make me sing.
You're every line, you're every word, you're everything.
You're every song, and I sing along.
'Cause you're my everything.
Yeah, yeah
So, la, la, la, la, la, la, la
So, la, la, la, la, la, la, la
Mood: happy
Tone: light, agile
Theme: It's about the great happiness of real love, but at the same time it was making a statement about the world. We’re living in really crazy times, and he wanted to say that no matter what’s happening, this person in our life is what really makes it worthwhile."
In my mind, there is a boy who I won’t forget forever. He is my ex-boyfriend; also he is my first friend in Canada. Actually, our parents are friends, but we never meet each other before I come to Canada. Last summer, I was new in here, everything for me were strange. I had no family, no friends, but he introduced all his friends to me. He took care of me every day, just like my brother. For me, he was almost my everything then. After few months, we fell in love and started dating. When we were in the relationship, we were very sweet and we seldom fight with each other. Unfortunately, we broke up with some reasons, but right now we are still good friends. He’s just like my brother because we know each other so much! Thanks God that I met you. I’m thankful for your kindness and the experience you have given me. Most of all, thank you for letting me love you. I hope you find true happiness in the days ahead. If I can turn back to time, I will still make the same choice, to be with you all over again. Happiness for you and I.
Event#4 Knowing my best friend over a decade
"Count on me" by Bruno Mars
[Verse 1:]
Oh uh-huh
If you ever find yourself stuck in the middle of the sea
I'll sail the world to find you (hyperbole)
If you ever find yourself lost in the dark and you can't see
I'll be the light to guide you (mataphor)
Find out what we're made of
When we are called to help our friends in need
[Chorus:]
You can count on me like 1, 2, 3
I'll be there
And I know when I need it
I can count on you like 4, 3, 2
You'll be there
'Cause that's what friends are supposed to do, oh yeah
Ooooooh, oooohhh yeah, yeah
[Verse 2:]
If you're tossin' and you're turnin'
And you just can't fall asleep
I'll sing a song beside you
And if you ever forget how much you really mean to me
Every day I will remind you
Oooh
Find out what we're made of
When we are called to help our friends in need
[Chorus:]
You can count on me like 1, 2, 3
I'll be there
And I know when I need it
I can count on you like 4, 3, 2
You'll be there
'Cause that's what friends are supposed to do, oh yeah
Ooooooh, oooohhh yeah, yeah
You'll always have my shoulder when you cry
I'll never let go, never say goodbye
You know...
[Chorus:]
You can count on me like 1, 2, 3
I'll be there
And I know when I need it
I can count on you like 4, 3, 2
You'll be there
'Cause that's what friends are supposed to do, oh yeah

You can count on me 'cause I can count on you

Event#5 I don't want to do anything after math final exam
"The Lazy Song" bt Bruno Mars
Today I don't feel like doing anything
I just wanna lay in my bed
Don't feel like picking up my phone
So leave a message at the tone (rhyme)
'Cause today I swear I'm not doing anything.
Uh!
I'm gonna kick my feet up
Then stare at the fan
Turn the TV on, throw my hand in my pants
Nobody's gonna tell me I can't
I'll be lounging on the couch,
Just chillin' in my snuggie
Click to MTV, so they can teach me how to dougie (rhyme)
'Cause in my castle I'm the freaking man
Oh, yes I said it
I said it
I said it 'cause I can
Today I don't feel like doing anything
I just wanna lay in my bed
Don't feel like picking up my phone
So leave a message at the tone
'Cause today I swear I'm not doing anything
Nothing at all!
Ooh, hoo, ooh, hoo, ooh, ooh-ooh
Nothing at all
Ooh, hoo, ooh, hoo, ooh, ooh-ooh
Tomorrow I'll wake up, do some P90X
Meet a really nice girl, have some really nice sex
And she's gonna scream out: 'This is Great' (Oh my God, this is great!)
Yeah
I might mess around, and get my college degree
I bet my old man will be so proud of me
But sorry pops, you'll just have to wait
Haha
Oh, yes I said it
I said it
I said it 'cause I can
Today I don't feel like doing anything
I just wanna lay in my bed
Don't feel like picking up my phone
So leave a message at the tone
'Cause today I swear I'm not doing anything
No, I ain't gonna comb my hair
'Cause I ain't going anywhere
No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no (repetition)
I'll just strut in my birthday suit
And let everything hang loose
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah (repetition)
Ooh
Today I don't feel like doing anything
I just wanna lay in my bed
Don't feel like picking up my phone
So leave a message at the tone
'Cause today I swear I'm not doing anything
Nothing at all
Ooh, hoo, ooh, hoo, ooh, ooh-ooh
Nothing at all
Ooh, hoo, ooh, hoo, ooh, ooh-ooh
Nothing at all
Mood: lazy
Tone: sleepy, indolent
Theme: He doesn't want to do anything, he just wanna relax himself, and no one can interrupt him.
I am really bad at math. I am just like a math idiot! I remember last year, I had Pre-calculus 11. I was almost struggle in it, but thank God, most of my friends are pretty good at math. They are endlessly kind and patient with me. Finally, I got higher mark at the end of the semester. After the final exam, I am just like a bird which can fly. It’s finally the day that I've waited so long for. I have freedom!!! When I went home, I threw away all of my math notes, practice tests, and homework. At that time, I didn't want to see math, number anymore. I only wanted to lie on my bed and I don’t want to do anything.
