STAR LIGHT

Edition #24-February 15, 2016

Why do you do what you do?

Well fellow educators I ask you to ask yourself why you do what you do? I agree with all that are pay is not sufficient considering the demands and hours you all put in. I also agree we as educators need to fight for change locally and beyond because what we do matters for our students and our society! In addition, with your skill sets of multi-tasking, technology innovators, and content scientists many of you could land a job that would meet more of your financial needs...BUT you continue to teach and lead others to do the same? Why?

I for one do continue because I feel the LOVE from our students and their families. I also feel I am the right person to make a difference in their lives by providing/ensuring they receive an outstanding education! I also feel the love from staff members I have learned with and from each and every day and I feel an obligation to not let them down as we hold hands together to better the chances our students have choices in their lives! The picture of the hearts on my door this week did not remind me of the craziness that V-day can bring on elementary students who were given SUGAR (not the best teaching method) it reminded me of why I do what I do!
