Discoverer of the Neutron
James Chadwick is credited as the discoverer of the neutron. He proved that a neutral particle exists in the atom by bombarding paraffin. The pieces bounced as if they were neutral, so he concluded that there must be a neutral particle, which came to be known as the neutron. His work is a foundation of the atomic theory, and has made possible all research on the atom.
