SEL Focus: Be a Friend

Happy September

Hello Falcon Families,

I can't believe we have been in school for 2 1/2 weeks. Time has flown by. The first two weeks we have been focusing on our school rules using the S.O.A.R. acronym. S stands for stay safe; O stands for own your actions, A stands for act responsible and R stands for respect everyone and everything. The students learned how these rules apply to different areas in the school. We also presented the District's safe school policy.

I also took the time to talk to the students about "being good humans" and using the motto, "When you see a need, do the deed" I have used both of these over the past few years and most of the students know it by heart. We discussed different ways at school and at home to "be a good human"

TESTING:

We also have been doing our Acadience Math and Reading. We will finish up the reading test next week!

FUN RUN

Our fun run is fast approaching. Hopefully your students are collecting pledges and getting ready to run on the 20th. In order for them to get a free shirt, then need to show they have 8 pledges by next Wednesday, September 6th.

COMMUNITY COUNCIL:

We have some openings for Community Council. There is a description of duties and a link below to let us know you are interested in serving. Please let us know by next Friday.

I hope you have a great holiday weekend and we will see you Tuesday!

Come be with the students during lunch! It is a lot of fun and the kids love seeing you. Sign up below.

Interested in Community Council?

We need more members on our community council. WE meet at least five times a year. We review and provide input to the school improvement plan and allocation of resources. We also provide input on issues that arise in the school. If you are interested in running, please click on the link below. We meet the first Friday of each month at 2:00 pm via zoom.

We have some new faces here and want to welcome them to our Valley View Community!
