PD on the Fly...
Here are six tips to be more efficient without sacrificing specific, timely, actionable feedback to students. Click HERE to check it out. Enjoy!
Information for the Staff
Please check your Blackboard to make sure parents are able see your Blackboard. The setting must say that that parents are permitted to view the information. If you are unsure how to do this, Lisa can help!
There have been changes in the requirements in CPI Training. The district is now able to train all staff in CPI. There are two components of the training: verbal deescalation and physical holds. All staff will go through the verbal deescalation training and some selected staff will go through the physical holds training. The initial training will be on the September 27 PD Day. You can view the training dates HERE and determine. Jay and I went through this training over the summer and I think you will find it beneficial.
September 27 Professional Development Day
We have the September 27 PD Day scheduled! I am looking forward to a day of professional growth that is aligned to our two goals: Conferencing and Goal Setting with students and Formative Instructional Practices. You can view the agenda on the Greene School Staff Meeting Agenda.
Please note that you will need to complete one item before the PD Day. The FIP Self Assessment needs to be completed. You will use this to develop your professional goal (time will be given at the PD Day). You will not need to turn this in; it is for you to identify an area for your goal.
Need to tell them about FIP self assessment
Access to the Building
Moving forward, there will not be doors left unlocked when adults are not around to supervise. For example, there is a door in the main entrance that has been unlocked from 3:00-6:00 for after school activities. That door will now remain locked. What this means to you: if you supervise a club or tutor students after school, parents will not be able to gain access to the building to pick them up. Students will be sent outside to meet their parents. I will be sending them a message to let them know this. If you meet with students after school and they need to come in, you will need to meet them at the door to let them in the building.
The district is offering PBL training for anyone who has not yet been trained. Participants will be immersed in a PBL experience to learn about PBL. The workshop will take place at DO and run from 8:30 - 3:30. The workshop is a 3 day series and participants must attend all 3 sessions:
If you are interested in attending the training let me know.
Staff Meeting Follow-Up
SUMMARY: Sycamore Bridges is an online gateway to kindness. We utilize social media and technology to BRIDGE those in need with those suited to fill needs in a timely and efficient manner. By filtering requests through an advocate based-structure, Sycamore Bridges is helping the families who need it the most.
Go to https://www.neighborhoodbridges.org/community/sycamore to view the current needs in Sycamore.
Follow us on Facebook https://www.facebook.com/SycamoreBridges/ to see the amazing things we are doing in our community.
Subscribe to receive an email when a new need is posted. We only send emails once a day, and only one email is released per open need.
Encourage people to subscribe to Sycamore Bridges to populate our donor side of the bridge.
If you identify a need, please contact your building advocates (administrators and counselors), who have the authority to post online.
Needs can include tangible items (i.e., clothing, shoes), services (i.e., translators, drivers), and financial contributions (i.e., rent, Kroger gift cards). We do our best to fill every need posted.
Always protect the privacy of the recipients. This program’s credibility and success is built on anonymity.
Remember, we have the power to provide life-changing contributions together as a community.
