Week 23 Edition/January 20, 2023
Message from Dr. Frischkorn
Good Evening Mayfield Intermediate School students and families!
Today we celebrated another Mayfield Moment when we had our 135 students in 5th grade recognized for their academic excellence during the first semester. The Principal's Honor Roll recognized students who received straight A's during the first semester, consisting of 23 students. The Honor Roll, which recognized students who received A's and B's during the first semester, comprised 112 students.
Next week we celebrate our 6th-grade students who received recognition for academic achievement.
Always Learning,
Dr. Donald Frischkorn

Mayfield hosted a spelling bee for our 5th and 6th grade students on Wednesday. Our students did an excellent job and represented our school well.
Congratulations! Here are the top 3 winners for the Mayfield School Spelling Bee:

2nd Place: Denzel Estrada Gonzalez
3rd Place: Kevin Padilla Lopez
These students will move forward to the Division Spelling Bee on January 26th at OHS in the Auditorium.
RethinkEd Social and Emotional Learning Program
Students complete a Social and Emotional Learning (SEL) self-assessment survey that checks how comfortable that are dealing with various SEL topics such as self-care, self-management, awareness of self and others, social awareness, and social skills. The self-assessment is being administered electronically during the students' STEM classes this upcoming week. Data from the self-assessment will be used by school counselors and teachers to help better meet the social and emotional needs of our students.

Thank You to our Community Partners E.E. Read East Coast Construction
Our Mayfield Intermediate School staff was treated to a beautiful staff breakfast thanks to the kindness of E.E. Reed East Coast Construction company. The company donated a fantastic breakfast from another tremendous local establishment, The Omelet Café. The staff very much appreciates generous gestures such as these. It is nice when you have community members offer donations to our schools! We respect the support.
Attendance is Important
As we start the second semester I want to help support all our students with improving attendance. Our goal is to have Mayfield Intermediate with the best attendance rate in the school division. We believe that it is so important for students to have great attendance by the end of the 6th grade. Improving attendance increases students academic achievement, improves their relationships with classmates, and builds healthy habits that will only help them as they continue to grow.
Students that are continuing to struggle with attendance will be provided extra support on Fridays during our Bobcat Block!
