Summer School

Dear Parents and Students:

The Coweta County School System will offer its annual Summer School program for middle school students during the month of June. The classes, held Monday through Friday, will take place at the Central Educational Center from June 3rd – June 29th, 2016.

Parents and students are encouraged to discuss summer school enrollment with their counselors. Only those students with complete application packets will be allowed to enroll for courses. All times, rules, and deadlines, with regards to registration, will be upheld and are final. Registration materials will be available at each middle school the 1st week of May 2016, or you can download directly. Completed registration packets are to be returned to Summer School administration, not your student’s base school counseling department. Registration will take place at each site as follows:

  • May 24th, 4-7 p.m. at Northgate High School
  • May 31, 9-3 at the Central Education Center

If you have any questions about course offerings or your student’s academic plan, please contact your counselor. If you have any questions about Summer School details, registration, or logistics please e-mail monica.nelson@cowetaschools.net

End-of-the-Year Reminders

  • Please send a self-addressed, stamped envelope to your child's homeroom teacher if you'd like your child's final report card mailed to your home. Reports cards not mailed may be picked up in our front office beginning summer office hours on June 3rd.
  • Make sure to pay all outstanding lunch account balances.
  • Return all library books and text books (and pay any fines if applicable).
  • Pick up any medication left in our school's clinic. Any medication left after May 27th will be destroyed.
  • If your child is missing an item, please make sure he/she checks the school's lost and found before the last day of school. Items will be donated to charity after June 3rd.
  • Any lost or collected valuables, including electronics, are locked in the school's vault and should be picked up by May 27th.

Eighth Grade Semiformal is May 21st

It's hard to believe our eighth graders are quickly approaching the end of their time at Madras. Our eighth graders are very special to us, and we would like to commemorate the end of their middle school experience with an eighth grade semi-formal dance which will be held on Saturday, May 21st from 6:30-9:00 in the Madras cafeteria.

Dance tickets are $25.00 and include catered finger foods, drinks, snacks, and entertainment (DJ). This price also includes free pictures that can be downloaded by students after the dance. Tickets will be sold April 28-May 18 from 8:00-8:20 in the front office or from 10:30-11:30 in the cafeteria during non-advisement days.

This special event is for Madras students only and gives them an opportunity to socialize with their classmates while celebrating the end of their middle school tenure. It is our hope that every student will be able to attend.
