Mrs. Loppnow's News & Notes
Week of April 23, 2018
A Note from Mrs. Loppnow:
Hello Parents!
They did it!! Every student completed the MCA testing! It is such a RELIEF to have that behind us! I have said it before, but I will say it again...I was VERY impressed with the students' hard work and dedication. I could not believe how calm and focused they were. Well, to be honest, I can believe it. This has been one of the best groups I have ever had and I KNOW they will all do great things. I hope you take time to celebrate!
I love this time of year as we can "relax" a little bit and be a little more flexible with our time. It can be hard as the kids get a dose of Spring Fever and want to be outside. Many of our upcoming activities will offer a little more outdoor time.
On Monday we will welcome a new student to our classroom. I know everyone will be kind and respectful as we help him transition to his new environment. It is exciting!
***(I thought) I did not receive any responses about chaperones on May 22 to the Children's Theater. A few students mentioned that you may have written it on the permission slip. PLEASE EMAIL me if you are, indeed, interested in joining us on the trip. I want to be sure I do not miss anyone before I draw 2 names. I will plan to draw the names on Tuesday. Chaperones are required to make full payment, sorry!***
Enjoy your weekend and the SUN!

A Peek into this week and next!
Writer's Workshop: This week the students worked on their Planet Projects which included research skills, writing, science, technology, and speaking. The final project was recording an episode of "Planet 3 News" to teach their classmates all about what they learned! They did a great job and had a lot of fun pretending to be newscasters.
Content: See Above!
Next week we will move into our Ancient Egypt unit. The unit will focus on the book, "Who Was King Tut", but will allow us to use everything we have learned this year to participate in exciting projects, research ancient inventions, investigate a mystery, and do some team building activities, too! It is a fun unit that will keep the kids active, engaged, and hopefully, excited about continuing to learn through the last month of school!
Reader's Workshop: Students completed their Partner Books as well as used time in reading to research their planets. Next week our focus will be on Reading Who Was King Tut and other stories about the Ancient World.
