March 2022 Updates from Columbia Area Career Center
Thursday, March 3 - Last Day To Request High School Courses
To help incentivize current CACC students to continue their educational and career journey—local businesses have donated prizes to students who are enrolled in any CACC course during the 2021-22 school year AND requested or applied to enroll in any CACC course during the 2022-23 school year. Students must fill out the entry form. After March 3, students will NOT be able to change high school course requests.
New students speak with your counselor to request a CACC course next year!
Missouri Association for Career & Technical Education Legislative Day
CPS Participated in Career & Technical Education Day at Missouri's State Capitol, Thursday, Feb. 10, 2022. Students met with 46th District Missouri House Representative Martha Stevens, who serves parts of Boone County. Students had a chance to speak about their experiences at CACC and ask questions. Rep. Stevens then introduced the student leaders in the House Chamber as her special guests for the day.
Following, the students were given a chance to tour the capitol building, including the Legislative Library, Missouri State Museum, Senate Chamber, Whispering Gallery, and tip-top view of the dome.
Students involved in the day included Ray Adelstein, Ethan Cooper, Gentry Duncan, Abby Eddy, Madalyn Elam, Charlie Hazelrigg, Jack Keene, Lauren Martin, Grace Parsons, Sam Tummons, Ethan Vanderwert, Ethan Graham, and Chase Knorr. Educational sponsors included Mrs. Amanda Brown, Dr. Corey Kohnle, and Mr. Travis Plume.
