CLEAR CREEK AMANA FFA STATE SOILS TEAM EARNS SILVER

Clear Creek Amana’s FFA State Soils Team earned a silver rating at the State Soils Competition on Saturday October 9, 2021. The team of Alex Cox, Claire Beitz, Olivia Miller and Spencer Schrader worked diligently to complete 4 soils pit score cards and a 40 point written exam about soils and the parent material of Iowa's most valuable resource.

FFA teams from 30 chapters, including 119 individuals participated this year in the State Competition. The Soils Evaluation Career Development Event includes the evaluation of the soils pits and the contest is divided into five parts: Surface Features, Soils Features, The Profile, Land Capability Classification, Productivity Potential, Evaluation of Management Practices and Sustainability of Soils for Non-Agricultural Use. The students judged at the Iowa State University Horticulture Research Station farm.

Clear Creek Amana FFA earned 15 place and only 10 points from earning a gold rating. The Clippers are already eager to prepare for Gold next season.

4 PLUS PROGRAM

Clear Creek Amana provides a four-plus program for our special needs students who continue to need vocational skills post-graduation. The 4+ Program is located in the West Campus building. The program's goal is to allow students to explore different careers and be gainfully employed by program completion. Students also develop and practice life skills to prepare them for independent living, such as grocery shopping, cooking meals, and maintaining their living space. Area businesses partner with CCA to offer our students invaluable experiences as they develop their work skills. The district wouldn't be able to provide these opportunities for our students without these partnerships.
