A note from Principal Dan Radicia
Elkhorn North High School is in week three of YEAR TWO and I have some exciting news about an ENHS Scholarship Incentive Program that will hopefully be a lasting legacy.
The Elkhorn Public Schools Foundation encourages students to continue their education after high school and has made a significant investment in building a robust scholarship program. Not only does the Foundation fund scholarships, but we have invested in technology, staffing, and a matching fund program to make it easy for donors to partner with us to provide additional opportunities for Elkhorn students.
We are excited to announce that we have finalized an agreement with an anonymous donor to provide a targeted incentive program to encourage new scholarships at Elkhorn North High School. The “Super-Charge ENHS Scholarship Incentive Program” incentivizes the creation of new scholarship funds by non-school related donors. To be eligible, the newly created scholarship fund must be dedicated to awarding an annual scholarship to an Elkhorn North High School student. These “Super-Charge Funds” are in addition to the Foundation’s existing matching funds program and will be available until the pool of funds is depleted. In order to offer a scholarship to students graduating in May 2022, all paperwork must be finalized by October 1st. If you are interested in starting a new scholarship at Elkhorn North High School, please contact Genice Chochon at gchochon@elkhornfoundation.org.
Elkhorn North teachers and administration believe that students learn best when they are engaged in meaningful lessons. We aim to provide engaging learning opportunities for as long as we may do so in a safe manner. We are doing our best to support all learners in the best way possible for the student and their own family. Thank you for continuing to screen your students before school, for helping adolescents realize that COVID still exists in our community and to be mindful of social distancing during the evenings and weekend events when they are with their peers, and for your on-going support of this process.
Safety Procedures
We completed our federally mandated fire evacuation drill within the first two weeks of school and we have work to do with our exit plans. We need to move close to 900 students out of the building in less than 4 minutes. We are under the law enforcement of Douglas County Sheriff’s Department so I would like to introduce Deputy Shane Miller to our parents. Deputy Miller has been a very visible presence for our students and parents. I have asked him to check perimeter sweeps of doors, parking lots and engage with our student body. Deputy Miller recently presented to our FCS classroom room about employment opportunities with law enforcement.
TA Homeroom Career Interests
During teacher advisory, our students started working on a curriculum regarding college and career decisions. The teacher advisory period is 19 minutes after period one on Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday. The new college and career curriculum will be the first Thursday of every month. We want to provide time for students to think about career opportunities that exist in our community so that they can envision and dream about their future careers. The students had an opportunity to watch the first installment of the monthly videos bring college and career opportunities to them.
PowerSchool Parent Access Information
The Elkhorn Public School District uses a student information system called PowerSchool. This is a web-based system that provides for real-time management of student data within a user friendly environment. An important feature in PowerSchool is parent/guardian access. This feature allows for the viewing of student data through any computer that has a connection to the internet. The District provided parent access for grades 9-12th beginning this last week of August, so that parents may periodically review their student's progress including grades, assignments and attendance. PowerSchool is a wonderful communication tool for teachers, students and parents about your students’ academic progress. Please communicate with your student regarding their missing work in the event that you look at their current grades and view missing assignments. Encourage your student to visit with his/her teachers to make up the late work by having the student stay after school in 8th hour after school academy or before school with his/her teachers. If your student forgot his/ her PowerSchool login and password, please have him/her visit the counseling center for the access in information.
Homecoming Dance- Homecoming Week Activities
Elkhorn North High School’s Homecoming Week is scheduled Sept. 13-17 with the outdoor dance on the turf on Saturday, Sept. 18 from 8:00-11:00 pm. ENHS Pep Club and ENHS Student Council are working together to have a spirit week and some activities that will begin/continue traditions at ENHS. From door decorations to the outdoor Wednesday night pep rally at ENHS stadium, we are working to provide safe activities for our students.

Student absences & appointments
If your student is absent for a doctor, dental or counseling appointment, please have your student bring a note from the provider to bring back to school. We will keep that on file for attendance purposes.
Parents are not required to come into the building to get their student. The office staff will verify the student has been called out, and the student will sign themselves out on the computer in the office and they will meet you at your car or drive themselves to where they need to go.
Thank you so much for your cooperation with this.
