Knowledge from College
Dear Pirate Families,
Our first semester flew by as we enter week 3 of second semester. Hopefully, you have seen your child's report card on his/her student portal and have had the opportunity to discuss your child's progress with his or her teacher. If you would like to schedule a phone conference or come in person to school for a conference, please be sure to reach out to your child's teacher through Dojo or email to set this up.
The Pasco Pathways and School Choice application window is open until January 20 at 4:30 pm. If your child is zoned to attend another elementary school and you would like your child to attend Pasco Elementary school, please take advantage of this opportunity. The application link is https://www.pasco.k12.fl.us/ed_choice/
In the upcoming weeks we will be reading a school wide novel called "The World According To Humphrey" which is about a school hamster named Humphrey and his observations of Mrs.Brisbane's classroom and his visits to the homes of the students in the class. We will be reading a chapter a day of this novel and Humphrey will be visiting a new classroom everyday. There are 12 books in the Humphrey series, so please help us encourage the children to read more about Humphrey's adventures!
NOTIFICATION OF INSPECTION FOR ASBESTOS CONTAINING MATERIALS IN PUBLIC SCHOOLS
The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has issued a final rule, 40 CFR Part 763, Asbestos Containing Material in schools, commonly referred to as AHERA. This rule requires all Local Education Agencies (LEA’s) to identify asbestos containing materials (ACM) in their school buildings and to take appropriate actions to control the release of asbestos fibers.
All inspections for Pasco Elementary School have been completed and a Management Plan describing the results of the inspection and the action plan to control any asbestos found during the inspection, where applicable, has been submitted to the governor for approval. A copy of this plan is located in the administrative office of this school and at the Pasco County Schools Maintenance & Facility Services Department and is available for review upon request.
Thank you for your partnership in education!

Goodbye to Mrs. Ketterer
Dear Pirate Families,
I am writing to let you know that I will be transferring to the Assistant Principal position at New River Elementary School in Wesley Chapel. New River is where I began my teaching career fifteen years ago. While I am excited, I will also greatly miss the Pasco Elementary School family.
Thank you for the opportunity to serve you and your children. I have loved being part of the Pasco Elementary School family, and I have been blessed to form so many relationships with students and their families. These past few years have not been easy ones with the pandemic, but I am proud of how this community continues to work hard and overcome challenges.
I know that Mrs. College and the amazing staff at Pasco Elementary School will continue to give your children an excellent education. In the next few weeks, Mrs. College will be working to interview and select a new Assistant Principal. I will continue to be here to help with the transition, and I will always support and keep Pasco Elementary School in my heart!
With Love and Gratitude,
Katie Ketterer
