Westmoor Update

~~~"A place where a student can dream, plan and achieve!"~~~
Week of October 12th
Westmoor Parents, Caregivers, and Students,
I am very happy to share that we are a fully staffed school. We had to hire a couple of teachers this year and now we have some great teachers to add to our amazing staff list! I hope you all know that we are here for you.
On another note, stress is an inherent part of life but thankfully there are tools that can help us manage it. Our Wellness Counselors continue to remind us to practice self-care and to find ways to stay in the moment. One suggestion is to take in a deep breath and slowly exhale--repeat this three times. It is a small gesture that will give you a big return.
I hope you find ways to enjoy this upcoming three-day weekend. Students will return to learning on Tuesday, October 13.
Dream and Achieve,
Principal Grace Strickland
Every Wednesday, 11-12 PM, our Wellness Counselors have different topic to discuss with our students. Click here to join.
Flu Vaccine
To prevent a “twindemic” of COVID-19 and seasonal influenza, San Mateo County Health is urging everyone over the age of 6 months to get a flu shot to protect themselves and their loved ones. Flu vaccination is part of a comprehensive public health strategy not only to reduce the burden of flu but also to preserve health care resources for care of patients with COVID-19. It takes a couple of weeks after vaccination for the body to build an immunity, so it’s best not to delay getting a shot.
Older adults, pregnant women, young adults, children, and people with other underlying health conditions are most at risk of getting the flu, but everyone six months and older should get vaccinated.
It takes two weeks after being immunized to be fully protected. The vaccine only keeps you fully protected for about one year, so it’s important to get vaccinated every year.
You can get flu shots at:
  • Your doctor’s office
  • Retail pharmacies and stores (call first to check vaccine availability)
