Dear Muskego Lakes Families,
Just a reminder that it is finally here..the first day of school is tomorrow!
Students can get dropped off anytime in the morning, but we have supervision outside starting at 7:45am. The doors at Muskego Lakes open at 7:55am, and the first class begins at 8:05am.
And for those of you who are new to us, the final bell at the end of the day rings at 3:05pm.
If you are dropping off and picking up your children, please make sure to review the drop off and pick up procedures below in the newsletter. While we know the first week or two may take a little longer than usual with families new to our drop off-pick up routine, typically we get all students picked up and out of the lot by 3:15pm.
And just a reminder, all students will report to homerooms tomorrow when they arrive to school. They will not follow their regular schedule on the first day of school because we have a fun day of community building planned for them.
Then, the second day of school- Thursday, September 2nd is an A day and Friday, September 3rd is a B day.
We are so excited to see our students tomorrow and know it will be an awesome day!!!
With love,
Rachel Rydzewski & Nancy Pasch

1st Day Extravaganza at Muskego Lakes
As a staff at Muskego Lakes, we can't wait for our students to return! We've been busy planning an engaging and exciting first day of school to kick off the year. Students will report to their homerooms and stay with their homeroom teacher all day on September 1st, so they will not follow their schedule. Throughout the day, they will be participating in the following:
- Classroom Ice Breaker/Community Building Activities
- Grade Level/Team Meetings
- Carnival Games
- PBIS Back to School Activities
- Reverse Tie-Dye their Class Color
- Photo booth
- Designing their Learner Profiles on Google Sites
We are sure that your child will have the best first day ever, and we can't wait to see them soon to kick off the 2021-2022 school year!
Please note: Since our first day of school is a different schedule, please let your child know that Thursday is an "A-Day," and Friday is a "B-Day" so that they can follow the correct schedule. Also, a reminder there is no school on Monday, September 6th, because of Labor Day.
Important Pick Up & Drop Off Change for 2021-22 School Year
This year, in an effort to increase the capacity of our pick up & drop off system, we added a lane behind the school. We were able to use the service drive leading to Hi View Drive with the permission of the Muskego Plan Commission. Permission to use the service drive for that purpose ended this past spring. This is why we started testing a new traffic pattern for families that use the 7th & 8th-grade lane behind the school. Based on the success of our trial runs, we will start the 2021-2022 school year with the following plan:
- 5th & 6th-grade students will be picked up and dropped off using the lane in front of the building (indicated by BLUE arrows on the diagram).
- 7th & 8th-grade students will be picked up and dropped off using the lane behind the building (indicated by GREEN arrows on the diagram)
- We are asking families that carpool or have students in various grade levels to use the lane behind the building (indicated by GREEN arrows on the diagram)
- Cars from the 7/8th and Carpool lane will loop around the building and merge with the 5th & 6th-grade lane. See the diagram above for the routes. The merge point is circled in RED.
We believe this is a better alternative to only using the pick-up / drop-off lane in front of the building because it allows our system to maintain a larger car capacity.

We Need Your Input about Upcoming Parent Teacher Conferences
So, we are looking for your help as we figure out plans for upcoming Fall Parent Teacher Conferences. We are wondering if we should:
- Go back to two nights of in-person conferences.
- Split our nights with one being virtual and one in person.
- Have both nights virtual (Families can schedule in person meetings as needed throughout the year.)
Important for you to know that doing both the same night with our Meet the Teacher app would present many logistical challenges. So at this time, we are not looking into that option.

iReady Fall Testing
iReady Fall Testing
Students will take the Fall iReady Assessment on the following dates:
Math: September 8-10, 2021
Literacy: September 14-16, 2021
The iReady Assessment is designed to get a clear picture of what students know and what they need to work on next. Talk with your child about doing their best and not stressing about wrong answers. In addition, it will be beneficial for students to ensure their chromebook is fully charged, has a pair of headphones, get a good night's sleep and eat a good breakfast on test days.
Attention Families of 7th & 8th Graders Attending MHS
Wednesday, September 8th, Muskego High School will be completing fall testing. As a result, Muskego Lakes 7th and 8th Graders that attend classes at the high school will start the day at Muskego Lakes - doors open at 7:55am. They will report to the library at 8:05am and will use the time to take the iReady Math assessment for the fall. If they don’t take math at the high school, they will use the time for study hall.
