In honor of Mumtaz Mahal her husband built the Taj Mahal meaning ' crown of places'. In 1631 Mumtaz Mahal died giving birth to Mumtaz and her husbands 14th child. She was buried in the Taj Mahal.

During the construction of the Taj Mahal there was 28 different verieties of semi-precious stones built to the Taj Mahal. The cost of the Taj Mahal was an amazing amount of money. It costed 32 million Indian rupees ( or a US $1 billion ) to build. The Taj Mahal had so many supplies that it took 1,000 elephants to transport the supplies to the work site. To protect the main dome the four pillars slanted away from it so that if they collapsed it wouldn't fall on the tombs.

Now days the Taj Mahal stands 561 feet tall and costs a US $8 billion.
