Message from Principal Wagner

Good evening BMES Families,

The new month also brings a new breakfast and lunch menu for October. Please see the linked YCSD elementary menu.

The PTA has some exciting events coming up for families. On October 12, the PTA will host their monthly meeting at 6pm in the library. On October 14th, the PTA will offer a STEM night from 6-7pm. Please join us in the cafe for a family fun night event.

Lastly, the BMES staff is planning our Fall Family engagement night on October 17th from 5:30-6:30pm. Parents are welcome to drop in during that hour to see what your child has been learning thus far this school year. We hope to see you then!

Wednesday, October 12

  • PTA Meeting at 6pm in the school library. We are looking for ideas to plan the Fall Festival, Teacher Helpers, Fundraisers, etc.

Friday, October 14

  • Deadline to submit entries for PTA Reflections to the main office.
  • PTA STEM Family Night from 6-7pm

Monday, October 17

  • BMES Fall Family Engagement Night from 5:30-6:30pm

Friday, October 20

  • PTA Spirit Night at Panda Express.

Saturday, October 22

  • Courtyard Clean Up- Please bring trimming sears, chainsaws, and gloves. We need to make our space enjoyable for our students!

Friday, October 28

  • PTA Monster Mash/Fall Festival

PICTURE DAY that was scheduled for October 3 will be rescheduled to another date.

FEV Tutor

FEV Tutor Academic Specialist, Britani Kerns, a former educator, will present a live demo of the FEV Tutor platform and answer questions from parents and guardians regarding FEV Tutoring. Two webinar dates are being offered and both will contain the same information. Each webinar is approximately one hour in length. These webinars will be recorded and available on the YCSD FEV Tutor website.

As a reminder, FEV Tutor provides students in grades 3-12 with free, 1:1 online tutoring for this school year. In addition to supporting coursework and homework in core subjects such as English Language Arts, math, science, and social studies, FEV Tutor offers support for Advanced Placement (AP) and International Baccalaureate (IB) courses.

Every Friday: we will sell ice cream for $1. The ice cream includes both dairy and non-dairy options. In order to prepare for your child to purchase ice cream, please send in money for their account or send in $1 to your child's teacher, labeled for ice cream.

2022-2023 Reflections Contest

This is kickoff to the 2022-2023 Reflections Contest. This year’s theme is “Show Your Voice.” The PTA Reflections program is a way for students to showcase their talent in the areas of:

  • Film Production
  • Dance Choreography
  • Visual Arts
  • Literature
  • Music Composition
  • Photography

Entries may be submitted into the main office by Friday, October 14th . The entry form can be found here.

The division’s customer service tool, Let’s Talk! – Ask YCSD has been expanded to include schools. Let’s Talk! – Ask YCSD can be conveniently accessed on the website or through the YCSD Mobile App using your smartphone, tablet or other mobile device.

To access the platform, click on the “Contact Us” button or simply click the Let's Talk! pop-out tab on the division website (the green tab on the right side of your computer screen or the green button on the bottom of your mobile screen). Then, select a topic to start a conversation and the appropriate staff member will respond.
