Hillcrest Family Newsletter

January 10, 2020

Welcome to 2020!

It is so wonderful seeing all of the familiar faces in the halls in this new year. We missed you and we are excited to get the second half of the year underway. This time of year, students are primed for learning and there is still a lot of fun coming!

Winter Parent Teacher Conference Night is coming up on January 30th. These conferences are "as needed" and teachers will send invites to families if a conference is being requested by the teacher. If you have any questions, or would like to request a conference, please reach out to your child's teacher.

Stay safe this weekend with the weather headed our way!

Yearbook Group Photos

Mortenson Photography will be at Hillcrest the morning of Thursday, February 20th to take candid and group photos for the yearbook. Any student who has participated in a Hillcrest group, including scouts, will have their group photo taken for the yearbook. If you would like your child to wear anything specific for this photo (for example, scout uniform or spirit wear) please have them wear it to school this day.

If your child did not have a yearbook photo taken earlier in the school year, they will also have their photo taken this day so they can be in the yearbook.

Yearbook orders will be sent home sometime in March.

4th and 5th Grade Hillcrest Choir

I would like to invite new choir students from fourth and fifth grades to be a part of the Hillcrest Elementary School Choir for the remainder of the 2019-20 school year. Choir is open to students from these grades who are willing to make a commitment to attend rehearsals on Tuesdays before school from 7:45 a.m. to 8:35 a.m. Students who are current members of choir do not have to register again. Our first rehearsal of 2020 will be on Tuesday, January 28th, beginning at 7:45 a.m. More information can be found HERE.

4th Grade Recorder Club

During the months of February and March, your fourth grade student will be learning to play the recorder. Recorders are provided at school. These classroom recorders are disinfected and thoroughly cleaned between uses. However, your student WILL NOT be able to take these recorders home. If you would like your child to own a recorder, you may purchase a recorder and you have several possibilities in making this purchase.

HERE is the link to a letter with more information.
