Car Rider Procedure Update
We are still experiencing difficulties with our car rider lane, some that are a safety issue and some that hinder expediting arrival and dismissal times. We ask that you review the summary of problem areas listed below and also revisit the link as well. We appreciate your help! Thank you!
- The car rider arrival line will close and blocked off by cones at 7:38 am. If you arrive after this time, please park in the parking lot and walk your child into the office
- While in line, please refrain from cell phone usage. This allows you to help keep the line moving forward and watch for any potential person that may be near your car while in motion.
- Please do not get out of your car-this is a safety issue.
- If you need a car sign -please contact the office. In the meantime, please create a sign with your child's name written in thick black marker so our staff can read from afar. Hang your sign from your rear view mirror or display on the the passenger side dashboard.
Snack Attack Program
Fishers Elementary is pleased to announce the return of the Snack Attack program for those students in need. This program, supported by the Fishers Youth Assistance Program, is designed to provide students with snacks either at school or to take home on the weekends.
Here's how the program works. The sack is filled with individually wrapped snacks such as granola bars, fruit cups, pop tarts, peanut butter/crackers, Goldfish crackers, etc. The type of snacks will vary each week. Please let us know if your child has a peanut allergy as he/she will receive a special bag of peanut-free snacks.
There is no cost to you or the school. If you are interested in having your child participate in FYAP's Snack Attack or have questions, please contact Jenn Lance, our school counselor, at jlance@hse.k12.in.us.
Sincerely,
Jenn Lance

USED WATER & SODA BOTTLE COMPETITION!!
We are sponsoring a contest to see which class can bring in the most used water and soda bottles (16-20 oz CLEAR bottles – no colored ones) starting Friday 8/27 – Friday 9/10 to help with an important community and environmental cause. The class that brings in the most will get an extra recess! Please rinse and remove the labels from the bottles and send them with your students or drop them off in the office with the class name on the bag. So why are we doing this?
The Marching Tiger Band at Fishers High School is on a mission to collect THOUSANDS of used bottles to create 8 gigantic sculptures like the one below (minus the whale) to use in their half-time/competition show AQUANOVA. At the end of the band season, all bottles will be recycled with Terra Cycle, a land recycling alliance/partner with 4Ocean. 4Ocean is a non-profit company committed to ending the ocean plastic crisis by using recycled plastic water and soda bottles to make a variety of products. Every 4Ocean product purchased comes with a promise to remove 1 pound of trash from our oceans, rivers, and coast lines, while also working to stop plastic pollution at its source. AQUANOVA – IT’S MORE THAN A SHOW – IT’S A CAUSE! We greatly appreciate your help!!

COVID Update
Please remember to send your student to school healthy. If a student is ill and has any of the symptoms of Covid listed below, we encourage you to get your student tested using a PCR test, which is available via Fishers Health Department (COVID Vaccine | Fishers, IN - Official Website) or the Indiana Department of Health (ISDH - Novel Coronavirus: COVID-19 Testing Information). PCR tests are the most accurate and provide less risk of a false positive or negative result. A visit to your physician is also suggested if you feel this is not Covid-related, then a doctor's note would be needed for your student to return to school. Please do not send your child to school ill or while waiting for Covid test results.
Symptoms to monitor for:
Fever or chills
Cough
Shortness of Breath or difficulty breathing
Fatigue
Muscle or body aches
Headache
New loss of taste or smell
Sore Throat
Congestion or runny nose
Nausea, vomiting or diarrhea

Response-to-Instruction (RtI)
Response to Instruction (RtI) is a general education initiative designed to provide high quality instruction and interventions matched to student needs and using learning rate over time and level of performance to make important educational decisions. The RtI model is based on a three-tiered model of service delivery with a focus on early intervention and prevention of academic and behavioral concerns. Data collected during this process provides valuable information regarding students’ educational progress and response to interventions. Students who do not demonstrate a response to well-implemented, scientifically-based interventions at the Tier 3 level would be referred for an educational evaluation to determine eligibility for special education. RtI is a component of HSE’s Child Find Process.
This past week, PTO Funds have been used to replace the sand in the Sandbox behind the school. This is just another way that your money, support gives back to OUR School.
We still need your support with a few more teachers - Hoping that you can support Mrs. Bock, Mrs. Thompson and Mrs. Kenworthy.
