Language Workshop
In Language Workshop, we are continuing to read and analyze books related to community. We have learned about different aspects of strong communities. The book Shy showed us that friends in our community can help us do things we might be scared of. The book Ish showed us that sometimes negative events happen in communities, but people can work together to bring the community back together. It has been fun learning about different communities, while forming our own classroom communities!

Reading Workshop
In Reading Workshop we have been practicing improving our reading stamina! We are learning how to read with a partner and read independently. We have also been practicing identifying both uppercase and lowercase letters, making letter sounds, and rhyming words.

Math Workshop
In Math Workshop, we have been focusing on counting and cardinality. By the end of the year, Kindergarten students are expected to be able to count to 100 by both ones and tens. Practicing at home will help in achieving this lofty goal! It is also important to practice counting backwards! Counting backwards is another skill to help improve number sense. Another important Kindergarten skill is number writing. Kindergarten students are expected to be able to write numbers 0-20. Even though this is an end of the year goal, it is important to start practicing now!

Upcoming Field Trips
There are two field trips planned for our kindergarten students next month. On Tuesday, October 15th, we will be heading to Green Meadows Farm for the day. On Wednesday, October 23rd, we will be going on our Environmental Education field trip. Ms. Miszewski and Mrs. Krahn's classes will be attending in the morning, from 9:00 - 11:30 a.m. Mrs. Relich and Mrs.Theiler's classes will be going in the afternoon, from 12:15 - 2:30 p.m.
We are in need of adult chaperones for both of these trips. More field trip details will be sent home very soon, but if you are interested in attending either field trip you will need to have an approved background check on file with the School District of Waukesha. For student safety, no adult without background clearance will be allowed to join us. No exceptions will be made.
